Rashmika Mandanna Performs Dangerous Underwater Action Scene for Mysaa

Rashmika Mandanna completed a demanding underwater action sequence for Mysaa, performing her own stunts in what makers call a first for Indian cinema.

Rashmika Mandanna has taken on one of the biggest challenges of her career for her upcoming film Mysaa. The actress recently completed an intense underwater action sequence that the makers say is India’s first female led underwater fight scene. What makes the achievement even more impressive is that Rashmika performed the action herself without using a body double. She spent nearly 20 hours underwater across two days to finish filming the demanding sequence, showing her commitment to the role and her willingness to push her limits for the film.

Director Rawindra Pulle shared the exciting update on social media along with behind the scenes pictures from the shoot. In the images, Rashmika can be seen wearing a wetsuit while listening carefully to instructions from the action team. She is surrounded by professional divers as the team prepares to film the underwater scenes. Another picture gives fans a glimpse of her character, showing scars on her back that hint at the intense journey her role will go through in the film. Sharing the photos, the director described the sequence as something Indian audiences have never seen before. He said the battle beneath the water will be one of the biggest highlights of Mysaa and promised that the film will offer a completely new action experience.

Rashmika also opened up about the experience on her Instagram Stories. She admitted that filming the underwater sequence was the toughest thing she has ever done in her career. The actress said she had been quiet on social media because she was busy working on the challenging shoot. Despite the physical demands, she shared that the experience made her even more excited about the film. She added that the entire team had taken on a difficult challenge because they wanted to create something fresh and memorable for audiences.

Mysaa is directed by Rawindra Pulle and produced by Unformula Films. The movie is an emotional action thriller set against the backdrop of tribal lands. It is also Rashmika Mandanna’s first female led pan India action film, making it an important project in her career. The first look of the film, released in July 2025, introduced Rashmika in a fierce new avatar. Covered in blood, holding a weapon and roaring at the camera, the poster hinted at a powerful and fearless character. The makers have also confirmed that the underwater action sequence has now been completed and announced that the film’s teaser will be released soon. Mysaa is expected to hit theatres in 2026, with the official release date likely to be announced in the coming months.

Rashmika was last seen in the Hindi film Cocktail 2, directed by Homi Adajania. The romantic drama also featured Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. While the film received mixed reviews from critics, it performed well at the box office and earned more than ₹140 crore worldwide.
