The Hollywood horror film Evil Dead Burn has made a decent start at the Indian box office. According to the reported figures, the film earned Rs. 0.75 crore from preview shows before adding Rs. 3.25 crore on its first full day of release.
The movie performed best in South India, which has traditionally been one of the strongest markets for Hollywood releases in the country. Based on the current trend, trade estimates suggest that Evil Dead Burn could collect around Rs. 13 to 15 crore nett during its opening weekend. If the film continues to attract audiences over the next two days, it could end its first weekend on a positive note.
The previous film in the Evil Dead franchise had recorded an opening weekend collection of Rs. 10.75 crore in India and went on to earn nearly Rs. 39 crore gross during its complete theatrical run.
