According to early estimates by Sacnilk, The India Story collected approximately Rs. 16 lakh nett in India on its first day. The film’s India gross collection stood at around Rs. 18 lakh, which was also its worldwide gross collection, as it did not record any overseas earnings on Day 1. Considering that the film was reportedly made on a budget of around Rs. 20 crore to Rs. 30 crore, the opening day performance has been modest. The coming weekend will now be important in determining whether the film can improve its collections through positive word of mouth.

Although the opening day numbers have been lower than expected, films based on strong social themes sometimes witness gradual growth if they receive positive reviews and audience appreciation over the weekend.
