Actor and producer Yash is leaving no stone unturned to build excitement for Ramayana, one of the most anticipated Indian films in recent years. During the film’s promotion at Comic Con, Yash, who plays the powerful character of Ravana and is also producing the film under his banner Monster Mind Creations, shared his thoughts on the legendary epic and the role that has fascinated audiences for generations. Speaking to the media, the actor explained why the story of Ramayana continues to connect with people across the world and why its lessons remain meaningful even today.
Talking about the heart of the story, Yash said every great story needs both good and evil. According to him, the strength of Ramayana lies in the completely different journeys of Lord Rama and Ravana. He explained that Lord Rama is born as a prince and has everything in life, but circumstances force him to lose it all. Through his honesty, patience, values, and actions, he earns back his place and becomes a symbol of righteousness. Ravana, on the other hand, starts with very little, works hard to become one of the most powerful rulers, but slowly allows pride, anger, and the desire for revenge to take control of his life. Yash said this contrast is what makes the story so powerful because it shows that true greatness is not measured by power alone but by the choices a person makes.
Speaking about his own role, Yash said he never looked at Ravana as a simple villain. He believes Ravana is one of the most complex and interesting characters in Indian mythology. The actor pointed out that Ravana was highly intelligent and had mastered many forms of knowledge, art, and warfare. However, despite all his wisdom and abilities, he could not control his own ego and hunger for power. According to Yash, that inner conflict is what ultimately led to Ravana’s downfall. He believes this combination of brilliance and weakness makes the character deeply human and gives audiences much more to think about than a traditional good versus evil story.
Yash also shared that his connection with Ramayana began when he was a child. He recalled listening to the epic from his grandfather, who would narrate the stories and encourage him to imagine the characters and their world in his own way. Those childhood memories stayed with him and made the opportunity to play Ravana even more meaningful. While preparing for the film, Yash said his goal was not to create a completely new version of the character but to understand the reasons behind Ravana’s actions. He wanted to explore the character’s mindset and the emotions that drove his decisions. The actor praised director Nitesh Tiwari and the writers for presenting a thoughtful vision of the epic, saying they focused on understanding the intentions behind Ravana’s choices rather than simply portraying him as a one dimensional villain. Yash believes this deeper approach will help audiences see Ramayana in a fresh light while staying true to the timeless message that has inspired generations.
