Jason Momoa has surprised fans with a dramatic transformation in the first look from the upcoming Street Fighter movie. The actor, best known for playing Aquaman, appears almost unrecognizable as Blanka, one of the most iconic characters from the popular video game series. A special scene released by Paramount on July 30 gives audiences an early glimpse of the action packed film, showing Momoa completely transformed with bright green skin, orange hair and Blanka’s signature electric powers. The preview highlights the character’s wild personality and powerful fighting style, staying close to the look that fans of the games have known for years.
The scene focuses on a battle between Blanka and Andrew Koji as Ryu. Blanka bursts out of containment with incredible force, roaring loudly as he charges into the fighting arena. He leaps towards Ryu, crushes stones with his bare hands and creates chaos with his powerful attacks. The spectators watch in amazement as Blanka throws one fighter into a fence with a single kick, showing just how dangerous he is. His aggressive movements and enormous strength make him one of the biggest threats introduced in the film.
During the confrontation, Ryu tries to avoid the fight and tells Blanka, “Stop! I do not wish to fight you.” However, Blanka mocks him before responding, “Then, you die,” and climbs around the fighting cage as if preparing for another attack. Ryu then decides to defend himself, quietly saying, “I warned you,” before gathering energy in his hands. A powerful blue electric current forms around him, creating one of the most memorable moments in the trailer. The energy blast eventually sends Blanka flying backward with tremendous force, setting up an intense rivalry between the two fighters.
According to the film’s official story, Ryu and Noah Centineo as Ken reunite after Chun-Li recruits them for the World Warrior Tournament. As they move deeper into the competition, they uncover a hidden conspiracy that forces them to face both dangerous enemies and painful memories from their past. The story combines action, martial arts and mystery while staying connected to the long running video game franchise.
The film also features Vidyut Jammwal, Callina Liang, Mel Jarnson, **50 Cent>, Roman Reigns and Rayna Vallandingham in important roles. Arriving more than three decades after the first live action adaptation released in 1994, Street Fighter is scheduled to reach theatres on October 16.
