Selena Gomez and her mother, Mandy Teefey, are facing a lawsuit connected to Wondermind, the mental health company they co founded with Daniella Pierson. Two companies, Wondermind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wondermind LLC, filed the lawsuit in federal court in Delaware. The investors claim they put $1.2 million into Wondermind in September 2022 after being given information that allegedly made the company appear ready to become a successful mental health and wellness platform.
According to the lawsuit, the investors believe they were given an overly positive picture of Wondermind’s business, including its leadership, resources and plans for growth. They also claim that several business opportunities presented to them never happened. The complaint alleges that an app promised as part of the company’s plans was never developed and that several proposed partnerships and projects failed to materialise.
The investors have also made claims about Gomez’s role in the company. According to the lawsuit, Gomez was expected to help build Wondermind as its head of marketing by using her large social media audience, advertising partnerships and television appearances. The investors allege that she later became less involved because of undisclosed personal disagreements with her mother.
The lawsuit also makes claims about Teefey’s management of the company. Investors referred to reports about financial and operational problems at Wondermind that became public in 2025. Teefey has denied claims about substance abuse and has rejected accusations that she was responsible for the company’s problems. She previously described such allegations as lies spread by unhappy former employees.
The complaint also claims that investors were not properly informed about Wondermind’s financial difficulties. One investor allegedly contacted Teefey seeking information about the company and was told that the matter should be discussed with Selena’s legal team. The investors say this raised further concerns about how the company was being managed.
Another major part of the lawsuit involves celebrity names allegedly used in Wondermind’s promotional and investor materials. The complaint claims that the company mentioned possible involvement or interest from high profile names including Camila Cabello, Tim Cook, Elton John, Drake and Megan Thee Stallion. The investors allege that these plans did not become real projects.
Wondermind had already faced financial problems before the lawsuit. In May 2025, Forbes reported that the company planned to cut about 60 percent of its 15 person staff. Employees also reportedly said they had gone weeks without receiving payment, while freelancers and vendors were allegedly owed money.
Wondermind said at the time that it had addressed the financial situation and was dealing with the challenges of growing the business.
The investors are now seeking the return of their money, damages, legal costs and attorney’s fees. They have also requested a jury trial. The allegations in the lawsuit have not been proven in court, and Gomez, Teefey and Wondermind will have an opportunity to respond to the claims.
