Spider Man: Brand New Day continues to perform strongly at the Indian box office despite entering its second week. The Tom Holland and Zendaya starrer collected Rs. 6.75 crore gross on its second Thursday, taking its second week total to Rs. 127 crore gross. This represents a 67 per cent drop from its opening week, which saw a much stronger start because of heavy advance bookings and early audience demand.
After two weeks in theatres, the superhero film has reached Rs. 518.50 crore gross in India, while its net collection stands at Rs. 428 crore. When 3D collections are included, the film’s real gross has reached Rs. 569.50 crore.
The movie is expected to benefit from stronger weekend business as audiences return to theatres. However, it will have to compete with the newly released Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2, which could affect its show count and daily collections in the coming days.
Based on its current performance, Spider Man: Brand New Day is expected to cross the Rs. 600 crore gross mark and the Rs. 500 crore net mark before completing its theatrical run in India. Reaching both milestones would further strengthen its position among the biggest Hollywood releases in the country.
The film has already been described as an ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER. Only a small number of Hollywood films released in India since Jurassic Park in 1994 have reached a similar level. The list includes Titanic, Avatar, The Jungle Book, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Avatar: The Way of Water.
Other possible contenders include Spider Man 3, 2012 and Furious 7. The film could also reach 2 crore footfalls in India. So far, only Titanic and Avengers: Endgame have achieved that figure.
