Bhooth Bangla Holds Strong In Second Week At Indian Box Office

Bhooth Bangla continues its steady run with Rs. 121.75 crore in two weeks, maintaining a solid hold and moving closer to Rs. 150 crore.

The Hindi film Bhooth Bangla collected Rs. 3.25 crore nett approx on its second Thursday. With this, it finished its second week at just over Rs. 41 crore nett. The drop from the first week, excluding previews, stands at 46 per cent, which is considered a healthy trend at the Indian box office. A drop below 50 per cent usually indicates that a film is holding well after its opening week.

There was also a noticeable jump in collections on Wednesday, with a 20 per cent increase compared to the previous day. This rise is linked to the upcoming Friday holiday, which helped boost evening and night show attendance. The total collection after two weeks now stands at Rs. 121.75 crore nett approx.

The film is currently classified as a HIT and is moving towards a lifetime total of around Rs. 150 crore nett. However, the performance in the coming weekend will play an important role in confirming how easily it reaches that mark. The Friday holiday is expected to support collections, especially in the early part of the third week.

In terms of competition, the third week does not see major releases from Hindi cinema. The main challenge comes from Raja Shivaji in Maharashtra. This region has been one of the stronger markets for Bhooth Bangla, but the number of shows there has dropped to around 30 per cent compared to last week. In other regions, the film has retained about 55 to 60 per cent of its previous screen count.

For Akshay Kumar, this film marks an important point in his recent box office journey. After the pandemic, he has faced several underperforming releases. Last year showed some improvement with three films doing reasonably well, but none reached HIT status. With Bhooth Bangla, he now has a confirmed HIT.

The industry often benefits when actors like Akshay Kumar deliver steady releases. While he may not always produce very high grossing films, having two or three successful films in a year helps maintain regular audience turnout in theatres. Compared to others, including Ajay Devgn, his consistent output plays a role in keeping the box office active.
