Cocktail 2 Crosses Rs. 60 Crore In Just 6 Days But Bigger Questions Remain

Cocktail 2 earned Rs. 60.50 crore in 6 days and is expected to finish its first week near Rs. 64 crore at the Indian box office.

Cocktail 2, starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna, continued its run at the Indian box office on Wednesday. The romantic drama collected Rs. 4.50 crore on Day 6, registering a drop of around 20 per cent compared to the previous day. With this, the film’s total collection reached Rs. 60.50 crore nett after 6 days in theatres.

The movie has maintained a strong pace during its opening week and is now expected to finish the week with a total of around Rs. 64 crore nett. This would be a notable first week performance and places the film among the better performing romantic dramas released in recent times.

Looking at its current trend, Cocktail 2 is also expected to surpass the lifetime collection of the original Cocktail. Released in 2012, the first film opened with Rs. 10.50 crore and went on to collect more than Rs. 74.50 crore nett during its theatrical run. Based on current box office numbers, the sequel appears likely to move beyond that figure in the coming days.

Despite the strong collections, the film’s long term box office outcome will depend on how it performs in the weeks ahead. Since the production cost is reportedly on the higher side, its final result will be determined not only by its earnings but also by how well it sustains audience interest after the opening week.

At present, the movie is performing better than several recent romantic comedies, including Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai and Pati Patni Aur Woh Do. However, its overall standing will become clearer once it completes a longer theatrical run.
