Raja Shivaji Box Office Shock After Tuesday Drop

Raja Shivaji crosses Rs. 50 crore in five days but slows on Tuesday. The film still eyes Rs. 100 crore as weekdays performance becomes crucial.

Raja Shivaji collected around Rs. 5.50 crore on Tuesday at the Indian box office. This was a drop of about 15 per cent compared to Monday. The decline mainly came from the Marathi version, which fell by more than 20 per cent. At the same time, the Hindi version actually grew by around 10 per cent. This growth happened because of the Tuesday discount that was available in many places. However, the film did not offer this discount in Maharashtra, so there was no sudden increase in collections there. Because of this, the overall drop on Tuesday was expected and normal.

The film, starring Riteish Deshmukh, has crossed the Rs. 50 crore mark within five days. Its total collection stands at Rs. 52.25 crore gross, which is about Rs. 43 crore nett. This makes Raja Shivaji the fastest earning film from the Marathi film industry so far. Out of the total, around Rs. 35.75 crore gross has come from the Marathi version, while the Hindi version has contributed about Rs. 16.75 crore gross.

The film is expected to finish its first week with around Rs. 60 crore. After a strong performance on Monday, it seemed like reaching Rs. 100 crore would be easy. Now, it still looks possible, but it may not be as smooth if weekday drops continue like Tuesday. The film needs to hold steady in the coming days and then show growth again during the second weekend.

If Raja Shivaji reaches Rs. 100 crore, it will become the highest grossing Marathi film ever. There is a strong history of films based on Maratha Empire figures doing well, especially in Maharashtra. Films like Tanhaji and Chhaava performed very strongly over time. How far Raja Shivaji goes will depend on how it performs in the second and third weeks.
