The Devil Wears Prada 2, starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, is showing a steady performance at the Indian box office. On its first Tuesday, the film added around Rs. 1.50 crore to its total collection. With this, its five day total has reached Rs. 18.55 crore gross in India.
The film is expected to cross the Rs. 20 crore mark on Wednesday. By the end of its first week, it is likely to collect around Rs. 21 crore. While this is considered a decent start, the film could have performed better during the weekdays. A stronger hold from Monday onwards would have given it a better overall position.
For the film to achieve a successful result in India, its second weekend performance will be important. A noticeable increase in collections during that period can help improve its overall box office outcome. Without that growth, it may find it difficult to reach higher milestones.
If the film performs as expected in the coming days, it could become one of the successful Hollywood releases in India this year. Based on current trends, it is also likely to cross the lifetime collections of The Mummy. Whether it will go beyond the collections of Michael remains uncertain and will depend on how it performs in the coming weeks.
Apart from the lead actors, the film features a large supporting cast including Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu and others.
