Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan continued its theatrical run by collecting Rs. 36.75 crore in its second week at the Indian box office. The political action drama recorded an 80 per cent drop compared to its opening week, taking its total India gross collection to Rs. 215.50 crore after 14 days.
Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan is the final film of Thalapathy Vijay before his full time political career. Even though the movie witnessed a sharp decline in collections during its second week, it has managed to maintain a steady run. The film also has an advantage this week as there are no major releases competing for audiences, giving it more time to add to its overall box office total.
Based on the current trend, the film is expected to complete its run in India with a lifetime gross of around Rs. 225 crore. While the pace of collections has slowed, the absence of strong competition could help the movie collect a few more crores before it leaves cinemas.
At the worldwide box office, Jana Nayagan is expected to finish its theatrical run at around Rs. 335 crore gross. The film reached this level despite facing several challenges, including an online leak, widespread piracy, and mixed reactions from audiences after its release. Even with these hurdles, the movie has managed to perform well at the box office and remains one of the notable Tamil releases of the year.
The day wise collections during the second week show that the film earned Rs. 4.50 crore on Day 8, Rs. 10.00 crore on Day 9, Rs. 12.75 crore on Day 10, Rs. 4.25 crore on Day 11, Rs. 2.00 crore on Day 12, Rs. 1.75 crore on Day 13, and an estimated Rs. 1.50 crore on Day 14.
