Madhuri Dixit’s Mrs Deshpande: Dialogues That’ll Keep You on the Edge!

Madhuri Dixit stars in Mrs Deshpande as a convicted serial killer helping police catch a copycat, forcing her to work with her estranged detective son.

Madhuri Dixit is all geared up to make an impactful return to the thriller genre with her series Mrs Deshpande directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. Its trailer, which was released on December 1, has garnered much interest as it shows the actor in a completely different avatar-playing a soft-spoken woman who is actually serving sentences for being a serial killer and is now helping the police catch a copycat killer.

The trailer starts with Dixit singing Bholi Si Surat, which quickly turns into a scene of her killing someone. This jolting contrast sets the eerie tone for the series. Soon after, she is behind bars, saying, “I am inside, so that means there is someone who is copying my style.” This line introduces the main conflict: there is a new killer on the loose, replicating the crimes that put Mrs Deshpande behind bars.

In the series, Dixit plays a serial killer serving a 25-year sentence who is approached by the police for assistance in solving the new crimes. Mrs Deshpande is the official Indian adaptation of the French psychological thriller La Mante and similarly combines elements of crime, psychological tension, and emotional exploration.

Mrs. Deshpande agrees to cooperate with the investigators on the basis of one condition: she would work with nobody else except her son, who is a detective now. The forced joint work becomes an important emotional line of the story, as the duo comes to face unresolved trauma, fractured trust, and complex feelings rooted in their shared past.

The storyline explores the tense relationship between them and the investigation at the same time, revealing the difference between the serene and innocent exterior of the protagonist versus the dark and violent impulses she once carried out. Themes of identity, inherited trauma, and the haunting influence of past actions run throughout the series.

The series stars Madhuri Dixit-Nene in the title role, while Siddharth Chandekar is said to play her son. Priyanshu Chatterjee will be seen in a pivotal supporting role.

Produced by Applause Entertainment and directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, the series Mrs Deshpande will be released on JioHotstar on December 19, 2025.
