5 things Bollywood taught us in 2013

Like every year, 2013 gave us a wide variety of films. It also gave us many lessons. Here's presenting a few things we learnt at the movies in 2013.

Experiments work: GO GOA GONE was perhaps the first zombie film in Bollywood and worked really well. Even BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG took the off-beaten path of making a biopic, something which is rare in Bollywood. Both the films did well at the box office thereby proving that experiments work.

Content-driven films have a place: THE LUNCH BOX, SPECIAL 26, KAI PO CHE, FUKREY and RAANJHANA were some films which were high on the content quotient and were widely recognized. So even today, content is king adage holds true.

Masala films rock: Be it CHENNAI EXPRESS or R…RAJKUMAR, masala films continue to rule the roost at the box office. We can expect the trend to carry on in the coming years as well.

Youth-centric films click: The youngsters are the prime target audience of filmmakers today. Most films targeted towards the youth like YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI, SHUDDH DESI ROMANCE, FUKREY did reasonably well at the box office.

A year of sequels: We saw films like YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA 2, RACE 2, KRRISH 3, DHOOM 3, MURDER 3, SHOOTOUT AT WADALA, AASHIQUI 2, ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAI DOBAARA and SAHIB BIWI AUR GANGSTER RETURNS releasing in 2013 making it a year of sequels.
