Aamir Khan recently shared exciting details about his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, which is being hailed as the spiritual sequel to his 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. In an interview with Deadline at the Red Sea International Film Festival, Aamir explained that while Sitaare Zameen Par is not a direct sequel in terms of characters, it continues the thematic exploration of Taare Zameen Par. The new film tackles similar issues but delves deeper into the concept of multiple intelligences, emphasizing the importance of recognizing diverse abilities beyond academic measures like reading and writing IQ.
Aamir elaborated that the plot and characters in Sitaare Zameen Par are entirely new, but the underlying theme of embracing individual differences and acknowledging challenges remains central. He also revealed that the film is nearing completion, with post-production work starting soon, and the film is expected to release around the middle of next year.
The film, which was officially announced in October 2023, stars Aamir Khan, Darsheel Safary (who was also a part of Taare Zameen Par), and Genelia Deshmukh. Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par is inspired by the 2018 Spanish film Champions.
Aamir, who was honored at the Red Sea Film Festival for his significant contribution to cinema, is also busy promoting Laapataa Ladies (retitled Lost Ladies), India’s official submission for the Best International Feature category at the Oscars.
