Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan recently posted his touching response on watching his son Abhishek Bachchan’s latest release, I Want To Talk, which has hit the theatres on 22nd of November, 2024. Profusely praising the film and his son’s performance, the veteran actor described it as a whirlwind experience.
Amitabh Bachchan on I Want To Talk
Describing the film as immersive and emotionally engaging, Amitabh wrote:
“Some films invite you to be entertained. some films invite you to BE the film. I Want To Talk just does that. It picks you up gently from your seat in the theatre and places you, equally gently, inside the screen it is being projected upon. and you watch its life floating by.”
He appreciated Abhishek for his role as Arjun Sen, a father facing personal crisis and relating to his daughter in complex ways. Amitabh observed, “Abhishek, you are not Abhishek. you are Arjun Sen of the film.”
Reflections on Perception and Judgment:
Amitabh also reflected upon people’s perception and judgment of one another by intermingling his own thoughts with his words from his memoirs based upon discussions with his late father Harivansh Rai Bachchan:
“People see me as good or bad depending on what they need for themselves. It was never who I was but how they needed to perceive me.”
He emphasized that judgment is usually a reflection of the one judging’s personal needs or prejudices, and not necessarily an objective fact of life. Amitabh called it the “eternal truth of life.”
About I Want To Talk:
The movie, Shoojit Sircar directed, is about Arjun Sen, played by Abhishek Bachchan, facing the biggest surgery of his life while trying to repair his strained relationship with his daughter. Besides the lead actor, the flick also casts Johny Lever and Ahilya Bamroo. It is produced under the brand names Rising Sun Films and Kino Works.
Critic Reception:
While the film has fared poorly at the box office, collecting an estimated ₹69 lakhs in two days, Abhishek’s performance in the film has received widespread critical acclaim, with several viewers and critics praising his maturity in adding a depth and nuanced elements to it while giving it a layer of authenticity.
Amitabh’s Support for Abhishek:
I admit that Amitabh’s blog post is a justification of his pride in his son’s work. His poetic and philosophical musings not only celebrate Abhishek’s craft but also remind us of the deeper truths about art, life, and recognition.
I Want To Talk still garners attention for poignant storytelling, and with such glowing praise from a cinematic legend, it looks ready to gain an enduring following beyond the box office.
