Anupam Kher recently took a walk down memory lane as he visited the famous Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai. The actor shared an emotional note on social media, remembering how his journey in theatre began at this very place. Back in 1982, he performed his first play titled Desire Under The Elms here. He described himself at that time as nervous, inexperienced, but full of dreams and hope. According to him, Prithvi Theatre was not just a stage but a place that gave him confidence and helped him discover himself as an actor.
As he prepares for his upcoming play Jaane Pehchaane Anjaane, Anupam visited the theatre early in the morning. He said the calm and quiet atmosphere made the experience feel almost meditative. Sitting there and going through his lines brought back the same excitement and hunger he felt when he first started. He shared that some places always stay close to your heart, and for him, Prithvi Theatre will always feel like home. He also thanked the theatre for being a constant source of inspiration throughout his life.
The new play is presented by Anupam Kher Studio and will feature him alongside actor Swaroop Sampat. It is written and directed by Gajendra Ahire and includes music by Anu Malik. This is the first time Anu Malik is composing music for a stage play, making the project even more special. The play focuses on relationships in today’s world and shows how people who seem close can still feel like strangers. It explores emotions, memories, and human connections through both drama and music.
The production also includes music sung by Shaan, Sukhwinder Singh, and Anandi Joshi. Lyrics are written by Kausar Munir, and choreography is handled by Chirag Aggarwal. Other actors in the play include Meghna Malik, Maya Sharma, Vikas Rawat, Shraddha Mandale, and Herman De Souza.
Talking about the play, Anupam said theatre has always been very special to him. He shared that every time he returns to the stage, it feels like coming back home. He believes the story is something people will connect with easily, as it reflects real emotions and relationships in today’s life. The release date and venue for the play are yet to be announced, but fans are already excited to see him back on stage.
