Actor producer Bimal Oberoi recently spoke about his experience of working in Dhurandhar: The Revenge and how he was selected for the role of Shirani in the film. He shared that getting this opportunity was not easy and involved several rounds of auditions over a period of time.
Talking about his journey to NDTV, Bimal said that the team had already completed a large part of the shoot and were still searching for the right person for his character. He explained, “They had already shot a major portion and were looking for this character. I auditioned multiple times over a few months. They would send it for feedback, call me again, it went back and forth. Then I met Aditya Dhar, and he asked me to grow a real beard and shave my head. I said yes immediately because it’s such an amazing role. A lot of preparation went into it. Since I restarted acting in 2018, this became a very important opportunity for me.”
The film is directed by Aditya Dhar and features Ranveer Singh in the lead role. Bimal also spoke about working closely with Ranveer and shared his observations about the actor’s approach on set.
According to Bimal, Ranveer was deeply involved in the filmmaking process and took responsibility beyond his acting role. He said, “Ranveer was so much into the film; he owned it. During the shoot, he wasn’t only Hamza, he would also be the first AD, he would also be the producer, making sure that if somebody new had joined the production, because I had joined quite late, everything was taken care of.”
He also recalled his first day on set and how Ranveer helped him feel comfortable before an important scene. “On my first day, we had a very emotional conversation before a crucial scene. He made sure everything around me was perfect. That ice-breaking is very important. Though he is younger, he came across like a senior professional. That made the scene like a cakewalk, there was no inhibition after that,” Bimal added.
The film continues the story of Hamza, who is now dealing with bigger challenges while working within enemy networks. This time, the focus also shifts to a new antagonist, Major Iqbal, who plays a key role in the storyline.
Apart from Ranveer and Bimal, the film features a wide cast including Sara Arjun, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, R. Madhavan, and Gaurav Gera.
Overall, Bimal Oberoi’s experience highlights the effort that goes into casting and preparation, along with the importance of teamwork on a film set.
