Kartik Aaryan to be replaced from Dharma’s Dostana 2!?

Unconfirmed reports doing rounds that actor Kartik Aaryan has been ousted from Dharma Productions 'Dostana 2'

There are unconfirmed reports doing rounds that actor Kartik Aaryan has been ousted from Dharma Productions ‘Dostana 2’. The reasons cited seem to vary from being called ‘creative differences’ to the actor’s ‘unprofessional behaviour’! Apparently, sometime in last quarter of 2019, Kartik Aaryan had revealed in an Instagram post that he had started preparing for ‘Dostana 2’. Kartik could be seen holding the film’s script too, which should mean that he had gone through the script.

If Kartik had gone through the script and had commented that he had started preparing for his part, then ‘creative difference’ could be a later thought. Kartik had also spoken about the film in interviews, commenting that the role will ‘push boundaries’ for him. If the grapewine is to be believed, it now appears that Karan Johar’s Dharma production is replacing the actor in ‘Dostana 2’, the sequel to the 2008 hit ‘Dostana’ (starring John Abraham & Abhishek Bachchan with Priyanka Chopra). It seems that the situation has become so bad that reportedly Dharma Productions and/or Karan Johar’s other film business has vowed not to work with Kartik again!?

‘Dostana 2’ was kicked off with the cast including Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor and TV actor Lakshya, directed by Collin D’Cunha. However, seldom does it happen with big production house to replace a prominent actor midway. Reportedly, Kartik had already completed 20 days of (Chandigarh) shoot for the film. Unbelievebly, sources went ahead to say that Dharma was ‘pushed to the wall’ by Kartik’s unprofessional behaviour and that there was lack of clarity on dates from his talent management agency, to reach such this situation.

The first installment was a massive success despite controversies. Dostana told the story about two men who ‘pretend to be gay’ to share an apartment with a girl with whom they eventually fall in love. This was possibly because it was the first mainstream Indian/Hindi film to explore homosexuality.

Kartik Aaryan’s co-star TV’s Lakshya (Lakshya Lalwani) managed to make it to ‘Dostana 2’ through Karan Johar’s newest venture, Dharma Cornerstone Agency. Earlier, Lakshya (Lalwani), had played the lead in the TV show ‘Porus’, a historical drama TV series based on the Battle of the Hydaspes. Besides ‘Porus’, Lakshya also featured in MTV India’s ‘Warrior High’.

Well, if the buzz is to be believed, we can only hope for things to get sorted among the ‘Dostana 2 team’, what with so many other issues anyways being faced by the film industry.
