Kunal Kemmu reveals why the colour red is prominently used in 'Madgaon Express'

Kunal Kemmu has decoded the use of red colour in the film’s colour palette.

Actor Kunal Kemmu, who has turned director with his upcoming film ‘Madgaon Express’, has decoded the use of red colour in the film’s colour palette. The trailer of the film, which received a thundering response from the audience, has shades of red in prominence.

The two cars that are shown in the trailer are red in colour, Upendra Limaye’s character of Mendoza Bhai is seen dressed in red similar to Chhaya Kadam’s character of Kanchan Kombdi.

Kunal recently spoke with IANS and shared the reason behind the use of red in the film’s visual landscape.

The actor told IANS: “Red is a strong colour. The use of red is to show power. When you feel confident, you wear bright colours, an under-confident person or an introvert will never choose bright colours, they would go for sedate colours to merge with the crowd.”

Kunal further mentioned, “During the pre-production, we had a colour palette meeting wherein we decided on the colour of the costumes. Shade card leke baithe sab log. Aur sab characters ke kapdo’n mein itna time laga hai. At one point I was like ‘Kuch bhi pehna do yaar’. But then I learnt the maths behind it and I started enjoying the process. Filmmaking is such a collaborative artform.”

Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner of Excel Entertainment, ‘Madgaon Express’ is set to hit theatres on March 22.
