Actress Manjari Fadnnis has alleged the brutal killing of a dog named Mikey, who had been living in her residential society for several years. Sharing an emotional video on social media, the actress broke down while speaking about the incident and demanded strict action against those allegedly responsible. She also called for stronger laws against animal cruelty in India.
According to Manjari, Mikey had been a part of the society since 2019 after being abandoned by his family. Residents knew him as a friendly and gentle dog. When Mikey suddenly went missing, members of the society became worried and started searching for him. Posters were put up and efforts were made to find him, but there was no sign of the dog.
In the video, Manjari claimed that a person who knew about the incident eventually came forward and shared details of what allegedly happened. Recalling the information she received, she said, “We had a dog called Mikey, who was abandoned by his family. And he has been a part of our society since 2019. He was a really sweet dog. He went missing. We were all worried and we all tried to find where he is. We made posters. We put them everywhere and tried to search him incessantly. And finally today, somebody from here confessed. Somebody who knows the people who have done it.”
She further alleged, “He confessed to us that Mikey was sleeping quietly in one of our building basement areas and he was hit on his head. He got very disoriented. They dragged him into the staircase area and they hit him more that he was bleeding from his mouth and he pooed and peed. In half death, they put him inside a goni (sack) and threw him off into this khadi (creek) area behind.”
Manjari said she still does not know whether Mikey survived. “We are trying to search for his body right now,” she said.
In the caption of her post, the actress wrote, “Our Mikey was Brutally Murdered… & we are going to fight for him… This should never happen with ANY Dog Ever again in any Society anywhere! People should be SCARED to hurt an animal! We NEED Stronger laws against Animal Cruelty!”
She also thanked animal welfare activist Xavier Santiago and members of her housing society for supporting her. Several celebrities reacted to the post, with Ridhima Pandit expressing her sadness over the incident, while Sana Saeed and filmmaker Ananth Mahadevan also shared their reactions.
