Yash Raj Films (YRF) has announced Mardaani 3 on the day of the release anniversary of Mardaani 2, marking another milestone for this iconic female-led franchise. Now, with Rani Mukerji as the fearless cop Shivani Shivaji Roy, the blockbuster franchise will have completed a decade marking strong female representation in Hindi cinema.
Rani Mukerji said, “Thrilled to share that we are going to roll the camera of Mardaani 3 from April 2025! Wearing that police uniform always feels like a treat. A character which has given me so much love, my tribute is this film for the unspoken, self-sacrificing cops who keep us safe every day.”

Promising to take the Mardaani franchise to new heights, Rani reveals, “Mardaani 3 is dark, deadly, and brutal. We have worked hard to bring a story that will be an adrenaline-pumping experience. I hope the audience will love this installment as much as they have loved the previous films.”
Aayush Gupta will write this film, the same author whose gripping and hard-hitting writing for The Railway Men gained him universal acclaim when he was writing a globally acclaimed streaming series. Aayush’s edgy story-telling will bring some fresh intensity to the Mardaani franchise.
Abhiraj Minawala, who has collaborated closely with YRF on films such as Band Baaja Baarat, Sultan, Tiger 3, and War 2, will now helm Mardaani 3. Having been mentored by Aditya Chopra, Abhiraj is all set to carry forward the legacy of the franchise with this high-stakes thriller.
With Mardaani 3, YRF reiterates its intent of empowering talent and doing impact cinema. The franchise fans are surely in for an action-packed, emotionally charged drama where the grit and sacrifices of real-life heroes are truly saluted.
