Nikkhil Advani, assistant director on Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (K3G), recently shared a funny story about the iconic helicopter entry of Shah Rukh Khan’s (SRK). Recently, while appearing on Cyrus Says YouTube channel, Advani talked about how SRK wanted to make a ‘dramatic entry’ and thought he would jump from the hovering helicopter. That, however, was infinitely simpler: SRK had only to step out to meet his on-screen mother, played by Jaya Bachchan. Nikkhil says the scene was meant to be about Jaya’s character and how her son’s arrival makes her feel; this slightly disappointed SRK, he says, who was expecting a more action-packed moment.
Advani has collaborated with SRK in several films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Mohabbatein, even having directed him in Kal Ho Naa Ho. These films did much to help build SRK into the “King of Romance” mantle, but behind the scenes Advani revealed that SRK did not at all feel like the king of romance. He does not like love stories either, instead he enjoys trying new genres of films.
Advani also let out that during the shoot of KKHH, SRK choreographed the basketball intro scene of Rahul and Anjali. The actor took it like an action sequence, and he got the “thrills” on-screen credit in the film’s credits.
Currently, SRK is set to appear in King, directed by Sujoy Ghosh. In a much-expected first, he will share the screen with his daughter Suhana Khan, marking their debut as co-stars.
