Bharat Dev Varma, husband of veteran actress Moon Moon Sen and father of actresses Raima and Riya Sen, passed away earlier this week in Kolkata, leaving his family and close ones in profound grief. Days after his demise, Raima Sen shared an emotional tribute to her father on Instagram, along with old pictures of him, including one where he holds her as a child. Her heartfelt note reflected her struggle to find words to describe him as a loving father and husband.
She wrote, “Daddy, can’t write anything yet. Words fall short of what a great father and husband you have been. Till then, dad, may you be happy wherever you are and live king size like you always did. Will miss you always and love you.”

The post received an outpouring of condolences and support from fans, friends, and fellow actors. Celina Jaitley reacted with a heartbroken emoji, while Rohit Bose Roy commented, “Whattttt! RIP Uncle, you were a kind heart and a rockstar!” Esha Deol wrote, “May his soul rest in peace. Deepest condolences to the family. Om Shanti.” Sanjay Kapoor also offered his condolences.
Raima continued to remember her father through Instagram stories, sharing nostalgic photos with the simple caption, “Daddy.” Her sister, Riya Sen, also paid tribute by posting a heartfelt message, accompanied by an image that read, “Daughter of a King.”
Earlier in September, Raima had celebrated her father’s birthday with a special note on Instagram. She described him as “the dad who made all our dreams possible” and called him the “original Rockstar,” expressing gratitude for his humor, charm, and unconditional support.
Bharat Dev Varma, born into the royal family of Tripura, was married to Bengali actress Moon Moon Sen, the daughter of the legendary Suchitra Sen. His passing on Tuesday, November 19, at his Kolkata residence, marked the end of an era for his family. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also expressed her sorrow in a heartfelt post, mentioning that Riya was with him at home while Moon Moon and Raima were traveling from Delhi.
The Sen family’s loss is deeply felt by the film fraternity and fans alike, who remember Bharat Dev Varma as a loving family man and a charismatic individual.
