One of the most anticipated films of 2026, Ramayana, has found itself at the centre of controversy after a video, believed to be from the film’s trailer, surfaced online. The clip, which has quickly gone viral across social media, reportedly shows Ranbir Kapoor in his role as Lord Ram fighting a demon. Several users on X have claimed that the footage is from the trailer that was recently screened at CinemaCon. However, the makers have not confirmed whether the video is genuine or commented on the alleged leak. As the clip continues to spread online, fans have expressed their disappointment over the leak and are urging the filmmakers to take strict action against those responsible.

The leak has sparked strong reactions from Ranbir Kapoor’s fans, many of whom believe such footage should have remained exclusive until its official release. Social media has been flooded with posts asking people not to share the clip and to respect the hard work of the film’s team. While excitement for the movie remains high, fans are worried that unauthorised leaks could affect the experience of watching the film on the big screen. Despite the growing online discussion, the makers of Ramayana have remained silent and have not released any official statement about the viral video.
Earlier this year, the makers released the first teaser of Ramayana on Hanuman Jayanti, giving audiences their first glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram. The teaser generated huge excitement but also received mixed reactions. While many praised the scale of the project and the performances, some viewers were disappointed with the visual effects and felt they could have been better. Responding to the criticism, producer Namit Malhotra assured fans that the team values audience feedback and is working hard to deliver a film that lives up to expectations. He said the project carries great responsibility because Ramayana is an epic that belongs to every Indian, and the team is committed to presenting it with respect and pride.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features a star studded cast. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi takes on the role of Goddess Sita. Yash will appear as Ravana, Sunny Deol will play Hanuman and Ravie Dubey will be seen as Lakshman. The film also stars Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, along with Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha and Indira Krishnan in important roles. Ramayana: Part I is scheduled to release in theatres this Diwali, while the second part is expected to arrive during Diwali 2027.
