Veteran actress Saira Banu, a legend in Indian cinema, has finally given a reassuring update about her health after a trying time. The 79-year-old actor revealed to India Today Digital that she has improved considerably from when she was battling pneumonia and blood clots in her calves. She sounded hopeful: “The clots have dissolved. I am recuperating very well and I am fine now.” Saira Banu also said that she is concentrating on physiotherapy and regaining her mobility.

Her health issues have always been a matter of concern as she has been battling some of them since the death of her husband, the legendary actor Dilip Kumar, in 2021. She had mobility issues a few months ago, but sources have confirmed that she is now back on track. The good news will surely come as a relief to fans of this iconic actress.

Saira Banu spoke of her indestructible bond with Dilip Kumar in an emotional reflection from her hospital bed. She reminisced about their wedding anniversary poignantly, recalling the magical day 58 years ago when they got married. In her heartfelt words, she described the surreal joy of their union, which she underlined with the depth of love and the enduring connection that she felt towards him. This quotation, “Do Sitaron Ka Zameen Par Hai Milan Aaj Ki Raat,” referred to a song playing on the radio that was the soundtrack of their wedding night; it perfectly encapsulated that idealised moment.

The two decades of Saira Banu’s career are indelibly marked upon Bollywood. Elegance personified, she was sweet and versatile; and there were very few films to prove her class, and those were Bluff Master, Padosan, Ayee Milan Ki Bela, Hera Pheri, and Victoria No. 203. She acted alongside some of the greatest stars in Indian cinema, which proved her class as one of the most lovely actresses of all times. She left the screen after the film Faisla and dedicated her life to her family and her legendary association with Dilip Kumar.
