Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend the inaugural World Audiovisual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 at Mumbai’s Jio World Centre. Running from May 1 to 4, the four-day mega event will unite leading voices from across the global entertainment landscape to spark conversations on creativity, collaboration, and innovation.
Major Boost for India’s Creator Economy
The summit comes at the right moment for India’s media and entertainment industry, which grew to Rs 2.5 lakh crore in revenue in 2024. To further accelerate its growth, the Modi government has announced a $1 billion creator economy fund to bolster the creator economy, enhance content quality, and increase global competitiveness. Further, Rs 400 crore has been provided to set up the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies in Mumbai, which will specialize in education of talent in animation, gaming, and digital media.
