Balaji Motion Pictures has officially started production on its upcoming horror film Ragini 3. Starring Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead role, the film has gone on floors with its first shooting schedule in London. Directed by Shashanka Ghosh, the movie is scheduled for a theatrical release in 2027.
Tamannaah Bhatia shared the update with fans through her Instagram Stories on July 15. She posted a picture from the film’s set while holding a clapperboard, confirming that shooting for the supernatural thriller has begun. The photo marked the start of production for the latest film in the Ragini franchise.
According to the makers, Ragini 3 will continue the horror series with a fresh story that combines supernatural elements, suspense, romance, and unexpected twists. While the film is expected to keep the thrilling atmosphere that the franchise is known for, the complete storyline has not been revealed. The London schedule is the first phase of filming, and additional shooting will continue over the coming months.
Reports have suggested that Junaid Khan, son of Aamir Khan, Nargis Fakhri, and Aayush Sharma are also part of the project. However, the makers have not officially confirmed the full cast. More announcements about the actors and the story are expected as production progresses.
The film has been described as a high concept supernatural thriller and is being positioned as a “date night horror” film that blends suspense, humour, and scares. Reports also suggest that Ragini 3 will take the franchise in a different direction by moving away from the erotic horror themes seen in earlier films. Instead, the focus is expected to be on supernatural storytelling and mainstream entertainment.
Produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd., the film is currently being shot in London.
The Ragini MMS franchise began in 2011 with Rajkummar Rao and Kainaz Motivala in the lead roles. It was followed by Ragini MMS 2 in 2014, which became popular among audiences, especially for the song Baby Doll featuring Sunny Leone. With Ragini 3 now in production, the franchise is preparing to return with a new story and a different approach to horror.
