Spider Man: Brand New Day has received certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) ahead of its release in India. The superhero film was cleared with a U/A 13+ certificate on July 23, but not before a few changes were made to the final version. According to certification details, the CBFC asked the makers to shorten an 8 second kissing scene and mute certain objectionable words at 3 different points in the film. After these changes, the approved runtime stands at 2 hours 24 minutes.
The latest CBFC decision has sparked discussion among moviegoers, especially fans of the Marvel franchise. While the edits are not extensive, some viewers have questioned why scenes in international films are often modified for Indian releases. Others have pointed out that similar scenes in some Hindi films have received fewer restrictions. The debate has once again brought attention to the different standards that audiences believe are applied during the certification process.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider Man: Brand New Day continues the journey of Peter Parker after the events of the previous film. Following the memory altering events that erased Peter’s identity from the world, he now faces a fresh challenge against a mysterious invisible enemy while trying to rebuild his life. The film stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker alongside Zendaya, with several other cast members playing important roles in the new chapter of the Marvel story.
The film is scheduled to release in Indian cinemas on July 30 and is already generating strong interest among audiences. Advance bookings have opened across the country, and early ticket sales indicate a promising start at the box office. Reports suggest that more than 260,000 tickets have already been sold before release, reflecting the popularity of both the character and the franchise in India.
Despite the discussion surrounding the CBFC edits, trade analysts believe the changes are unlikely to have a major impact on the film’s commercial performance. The strong advance bookings indicate that audience interest remains high, and the film is expected to open well in cinemas. With Tom Holland returning as Spider Man and the story exploring a new phase in Peter Parker’s life, Spider Man: Brand New Day is among the most anticipated Hollywood releases of the season. The film’s box office performance in India will now depend on audience response after it arrives in theatres on July 30.
