John Cena is heading to Abu Dhabi this September as the headline attraction at the 2026 edition of Middle East Film & Comic Con, giving fans in the region an opportunity to meet one of the biggest names in wrestling and Hollywood. MEFCC has confirmed Cena as part of its celebrity line up for the event, which will take place from September 11 to 13 at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi.
Cena is scheduled to appear on September 12 and 13, where fans will have opportunities for photographs, autographs and conversations as part of the convention’s Meet the Stars experience.
The announcement adds considerable star power to an already international line up that includes Japanese actor Mackenyu, best known globally for playing Roronoa Zoro in Netflix’s One Piece, and Finnish actor Joonas Suotamo, who played Chewbacca in the Star Wars sequel trilogy and Lurch in Wednesday.
Cena’s appearance also comes at an interesting point in his career. WWE officially recognised him as a 17 time World Champion after his victory over Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41, before his farewell run culminated in his final match against Gunther in December 2025. His MEFCC appearance therefore marks a notable post WWE chapter for a performer whose profile now extends well beyond professional wrestling.
For MEFCC, the announcement arrives as the Abu Dhabi convention builds on the momentum of its 2025 edition, which attracted more than 46,000 visitors. Organisers are expecting more than 46,000 fans again for the 2026 event, with the convention covering movies, television, anime, comics, gaming, cosplay and collectibles.
The festival’s official website says VIP tickets for this year’s edition have already sold out, while standard tickets remain available. Cena’s presence is likely to add another layer of interest to an event that has increasingly positioned itself as one of the region’s major pop culture gatherings.
For Indian fans, Cena’s growing presence in mainstream entertainment also makes the Abu Dhabi appearance particularly relevant. Beyond his WWE legacy, he has established himself as a Hollywood performer through films and franchises including The Suicide Squad, the Fast & Furious series, Barbie and Peacemaker. MEFCC itself lists him among its principal celebrity guests for the 2026 edition.
John Cena’s appearance at MEFCC 2026 is therefore more than a conventional celebrity convention booking. Coming just months after his WWE farewell, it brings one of the world’s most recognisable wrestling personalities to a major Middle Eastern pop culture event at a time when his career is increasingly defined by both entertainment and Hollywood.
