Top Gun and Top Gun Maverick return to cinemas on 15 May 2026 for one week. A new featurette celebrates 40 years of the iconic franchise.

To celebrate 40 years of the iconic film Top Gun, Paramount Pictures has released a new behind the scenes featurette. The video includes actor and producer Tom Cruise along with cast members like Glen Powell, Miles Teller and Jennifer Connelly. They talk about the impact of the films and why audiences continue to enjoy them even today.

Both Top Gun and Top Gun Maverick will return to theatres on 15 May 2026 for a limited run of one week. The original film follows a group of skilled Navy pilots who train at an elite school called Top Gun. These pilots compete with each other and push their limits to become the best. Tom Cruise plays Pete Maverick Mitchell, a confident and talented pilot who became a defining character for many viewers.

The 1986 film was directed by Tony Scott and produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer. It also featured actors like Kelly McGillis, Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards and Tom Skerritt.

The sequel, Top Gun Maverick, continues the story after more than thirty years. Maverick is still serving as a top aviator but avoids promotions that would keep him on the ground. He is assigned to train a new group of pilots for a very difficult mission. During this time, he meets Lt Bradley Bradshaw, also known as Rooster, who is the son of his late friend Goose. The story shows Maverick dealing with his past while preparing the team for a dangerous mission.

The sequel is directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer along with Tom Cruise and others. The cast includes Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell and several others.

Both films will be re released in Indian cinemas on 15 May 2026 for one week, giving audiences a chance to watch them again on the big screen.
