Amazon MGM Studios’ Orion Pictures has released the official trailer for Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, an action thriller written and directed by Bassam Tariq. The film stars two time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali in the lead role and combines action with an emotional story about family, grief and faith.
The film is set to make its world premiere in the Special Presentations section at the Toronto International Film Festival this September. Following its festival debut, it will begin a limited theatrical release in New York and Los Angeles on September 25 before expanding to more cinemas in October as part of the awards season.
The movie marks another collaboration between Mahershala Ali and director Bassam Tariq, who were previously linked to Marvel’s Blade reboot in 2021. Although Tariq later left that project and the film never moved forward, the pair have now reunited for a completely different story.
Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother takes its title from a well known Islamic saying that highlights the importance of caring for and respecting mothers. The story follows Latif, played by Mahershala Ali, an assassin trying to balance his dangerous secret life with the responsibilities of being a single father after the death of his wife.
His life becomes even more complicated while he searches for breast milk for his infant daughter with the help of his teenage daughter, played by Adia, and his young son. During this journey, Latif is unexpectedly pulled into a contract killing that places him in conflict with influential faith leader Hwan Yoon, played by John Cho. As the danger grows, Latif relies on the support of his community while fighting to protect his children. At the same time, he is forced to confront his own beliefs about faith, responsibility and the loss of his wife.
Along with Mahershala Ali and John Cho, the film features performances by Abubakr Ali, Laith Nakli, Tramell Tillman, Tiffany Boone, Jahleel Kamara and Giancarlo Esposito in important supporting roles.
The newly released trailer offers a glimpse of a story that blends emotional family moments with tense action and suspense.
