Salma Hayek Pinault is redefining beauty standards at 58 with her stunning debut on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2025. The House of Gucci star graces the issue, out May 17, in a shimmering green Johanna Ortiz swimsuit, paired with body jewelry by Jacquie Aiche. Shot in a shallow pool, the cover captures her elegance and confidence in a way that breaks age stereotypes in the fashion world.
A Dream She Never Imagined
In an interview on the Today show, Hayek admitted she never envisioned herself on the cover. “I used to look at this magazine and wanted to see who was the new, gorgeous model… It never crossed my mind that I could be on that cover,” she said. “My body isn’t necessarily the model type. And for it to happen at 58 it’s really shocking.”

Behind the Scenes: Confidence and Vulnerability
Preparing for the shoot wasn’t easy. Hayek confessed to feeling imposter syndrome, trying on over 100 bikinis before facing the camera. A behind-the-scenes Instagram video shows her confidently posing topless in a pool and modeling several sizzling bikinis on the beach. She also recalled a magical moment when a whale jumped out of the ocean during the shoot, easing her nerves and lifting her spirits.
A Message of Empowerment
Reflecting on the experience, Hayek said, “My generation, especially Mexican women, we thought we were going to be dismissed at 35. I felt really free. I put on Bad Bunny, I started dancing, I loved it.”
