BTS’ Suga, a beloved figure in the K-pop industry, has recently faced challenges due to a DUI incident that occurred on August 6. Despite the controversy, Suga has received overwhelming support from both fans and fellow celebrities, who have publicly expressed their solidarity during this difficult time.

One of the most notable expressions of support came from PSY, the legendary South Korean singer-songwriter. PSY, who collaborated with Suga on the hit track “That That,” took a moment during his “Summer Swag” concert on August 25 to acknowledge Suga’s contribution to the song. Before performing the track at the Suwon World Cup Stadium, PSY addressed the crowd, expressing his gratitude to Suga for creating and singing the song with him. His shoutout led to an outpouring of cheers from the audience, and the phrase “We Support Min Yoongi” quickly began trending among fans.

Other celebrities have also rallied behind Suga. Actress Park Sohee, daughter of the late composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, showed her support by responding to a post with a purple heart emoji, a symbol closely associated with BTS and their fandom, ARMY. Mui Sakamoto, another member of the Sakamoto family, shared BTS tracks like “The Last” and “Life Goes On” on her Instagram, further signaling her support for Suga. Cobra Kai actress Alicia Hannah Kim also posted a message on her Instagram Story, saying “Protect Min Yoongi.”

Even author Alexander Chee, who attended the 2021 Met Gala where BTS made a significant appearance, expressed his support by saying, “Suga!!! We are with you.”

Amid this wave of support, Suga has continued to express his remorse for the incident. He was summoned by police as part of the DUI investigation and took the opportunity to apologize to his fans upon arriving at the station. In a handwritten letter shared on August 25, Suga expressed deep regret for his actions, saying, “I apologize very deeply for having disappointed and hurt my fans and everyone who loves me through my wrongdoings.” He also reflected on the events of August 6, admitting his mistake of riding an electric scooter on the sidewalk after drinking and apologizing for the confusion caused by his initial apology.

The continued backing from his colleagues and fans demonstrates the strong support system surrounding Suga as he navigates through this challenging period.
