Govinda made a surprise appearance on Lock Upp 2 where his wife, Sunita Ahuja, is participating as a contestant. His entry grabbed everyone’s attention after he arrived on stage carrying a bullet in his pocket. The moment was linked to Sunita’s earlier statement that if she had been responsible for Govinda’s previous gun injury, she would have shot him in the chest instead of the leg.
As Govinda met Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh on the show, he joked about the reality show and his personal life. He said, “Yeh voh Lock Upp hai jo dikhayi deta hai, jo nahi dikhaye dete voh kayi lock-ups hai, main vahan se aa raha hoon (This is the Lock Upp that everyone can see, but there are many other lock-ups that no one sees. I’ve come from those).” When Farah Khan mentioned his accidental shooting incident, Govinda laughed and replied, “Arre, main leke aaya hoon jeb mein goli. Main bola seene mein maarna chah rahi thi, maar le ab (I’ve even brought a bullet in my pocket. She said she wanted to shoot me in the chest, so she can go ahead and do it now).”
In 2024, Govinda accidentally shot himself in the leg while cleaning his licensed gun at home. He was immediately taken to the hospital and remained there for a few days before recovering. Later, Shilpa Shetty jokingly asked him whether Sunita had shot him. Speaking to Hindi Rush, Sunita had responded, “Govinda ne aadhi baat boli thi. Maine Shilpa ko bola tha ki agar main goli maarti toh pair par na maarti, seene par maarti (Govinda told a half-baked story. I told Shilpa that if I had pulled the trigger, I would’ve shot him in the chest, not on his foot). Kaam karo toh poora karo, nahi toh mat karo (If you are doing something, do it well; otherwise don’t do it).”
The comments once again drew attention because they came after months of rumours about trouble in Govinda and Sunita’s marriage. Although the couple later confirmed that they were still together, Sunita has repeatedly spoken about infidelity during their marriage. On the launch day of Lock Upp 2, she said, “Pyaar mein toh aapko har cheez bardasht karna chahiye. Chi Chi (Govinda) ne life mein itne affairs kiye, chalo hero heroine mein toh hote hi hain (In love, you should be able to tolerate everything. Chi Chi had so many affairs in his life; well, heroes and heroines do have such things)….”
In another recent episode, contestant Shreya Kalra asked Sunita whether Govinda still cheats on her. Referring to one of Sunita’s older interviews about infidelity, Shreya questioned her about those claims. Responding to the question, Sunita said, “Hua toh abhi kya kar sakte hain… shuru se hi hua hain na lekin? Hero hain toh you can’t say anything (What can I do now since it happened from the start? He’s a hero, you can’t say anything).” Sunita has also shared on the show that she grew up believing that women should stay committed to their marriage despite difficulties. She added that, in her view, actors cannot be controlled and that affairs are common in the film industry.
