Janhvi Kapoor, who is already marking her place in Bollywood, recently made her entry into South Indian cinema with her debut film alongside Jr NTR, Devara. She has been known to have strong relations with South and recently showed appreciation for Nayanthara’s documentary series, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale.
On November 19, Janhvi shared the poster of the series on her Instagram story, which happened to be an emotional photo of Nayanthara’s wedding with her husband, Vignesh Sivan. She lauded the series, saying, “Nothing more inspiring than watching a strong woman be a strong woman,” along with a red heart emoji.
Directed by Amith Krishnan, the Netflix documentary offers a private look into Nayanthara and Vignesh Shetty’s life; unseen moments at their wedding are shared, along with anecdotes from close friends and colleagues such as Nagarjuna Akkineni, Rana Daggubati, and Atlee. Streaming since November 18, 2024, the series celebrates the life and love of the South cinema powerhouse couple.
For Janhvi, the interest in South cinema is deeply personal. In an earlier interview, she said she connected the environment and language of South Indian cinema to her late mother, Sridevi, who was very close to the South film industry. While talking about Devara, the debut, Janhvi said that she felt it was the right time because she had been leaning more and more toward her roots and her mother’s legacy with families like NTR and Ram Charan.
On the professional front, Janhvi will be next seen in Shashank Khaitan’s romantic-comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari (SSKTK) opposite Varun Dhawan. The film produced by Dharma Productions will also feature Rohit Saraf, Maniesh Paul, Akshay Oberoi, and Sanya Malhotra. The movie is scheduled to hit the theaters on April 18, 2025. Meanwhile, she is said to be working on another romantic-comedy with Sidharth Malhotra.
