The spat between Nayanthara and Dhanush over her Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale seems to be gaining further momentum with her husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan now even intervening in defense of his wife. The ruckus is all over Dhanush not allowing footage from the film he had produced in association Naanum Rowdy Dhaan into the documentary and subsequently asking for ₹10 crore as copyright.

Sharing a flashback video of Dhanush from the audio launch of 2017 film *Sakka Podu Podu Raja*, Vignesh Shivan posted on Instagram today.  In it,Dhanush talks about being positive and giving respect to one another. He can be heard saying: “If you like somebody, celebrate with them. If you don’t like somebody, just move on. Live and let live.” Alongside the video, Vignesh wrote: Vaazhu Vaazha udu ???? #spreadLove #OmNamaShivaya. At least for the sake of some innocent die-hard fans who believe all of this! I sincerely pray to God for people to change and find happiness in other people’s happiness.”

Nayanthara’s Open Letter
Earlier, Nayanthara had released a strongly worded open letter condemning Dhanush’s actions as vindictive. She questioned his public persona versus his acts by writing: “This is all-time low from you and speaks so much about your character. I wish you were half the person you portray to be on stage in audio launches in front of your innocent fans.”

Background to the Controversy

The dispute involves a plea from Nayanthara and Netflix India to use a minute bit from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her new documentary. Dhanush as a producer refused permission and filed a legal complaint and reportedly asked for ₹10 crore as damages.
