Kim Kardashian has revealed she didn’t pass the California bar exam, but in true Kim fashion, she handled it with confidence, humor, and a little bit of couture. Sharing the news on Instagram, she wrote, “Well… I’m not a lawyer yet. I just play a very well-dressed one on TV.”
The comment came after weeks of speculation about whether she’d passed the notoriously difficult California bar exam, one of the hardest in the U.S. Despite the setback, Kim remained calm and grounded, saying she’s proud of how far she’s come since starting her legal journey back in 2019.
For those unfamiliar, Kim isn’t taking the traditional law school route. She’s part of California’s Law Office Study Program, which lets aspiring lawyers apprentice under practicing attorneys instead of enrolling in a university. She’s already cleared one major milestone, the “baby bar” exam- back in 2021, after three failed attempts.
Failing the full bar exam is far from the end of the road. Many law students don’t pass on their first try, and Kim made it clear she isn’t backing down. “Failing short isn’t failure, it’s fuel,” she reportedly said, adding that she’ll retake the exam and continue her apprenticeship.
Fans and critics alike couldn’t help but notice the irony of the timing. Her revelation came shortly after the release of her Hulu legal drama All’s Fair, where she plays a glamorous attorney, one reason her witty “very well-dressed lawyer” comment instantly went viral.

Kim’s journey has always been more about purpose than image. Her passion for criminal justice reform — inspired by real cases she helped advocate for, has already changed lives. Whether or not she’s officially a lawyer yet, she’s proven she’s serious about making a difference.
So while the bar may have stopped her this time, Kim Kardashian isn’t one to quit. If anything, she’s likely studying in heels right now, one eye on her flashcards, the other on her next courtroom look.
