Veteran actor Saurabh Shukla, who plays a pivotal role in the forthcoming film DAAS DEV, says the film combines elements from two classics — DEVDAS and HAMLET.

A DAAS DEV rap song was released on Monday as an introduction to the world of the film's main story. It is rapped by director Sudhir Mishra, and features Saurabh.

Saurabh told IANS: "This is a very unusual rap song as opposed to a regular one that we often hear. Sudhir did the rap and it gives the insight of the main story of the film. 'Daas Dev' basically takes elements from two classics that are DEVDAS and HAMLET.

"The character that I am playing in the film is actually inspired from one of the characters from HAMLET."

In the film, the journey of the protagonist Dev goes on a reverse gear from the original DEVDAS.

"It is the journey of Dev, who is a 'das' or slave of power, money, addiction and in the journey, how he breaks himself from all these and become free, becomes a Dev or a good person.

"This is just the opposite story of DEVDAS, who was a good man, and slowly in a different situation, he became a 'das' of his addiction," explained the actor.

DAAS DEV, featuring Rahul Bhat, Richa Chadha and Aditi Rao Hydari among others, will release on April 20.

Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar, who will be venturing into period drama with biopic based on revolutionary Udham Singh, said that he will not take liberty with the subject until he can authenticate it.

"I will take the liberty as to what I can authenticate as that person, not to sell my film," Shoojit said on Sunday at the promotional interview for his forthcoming film OCTOBER.

He also added that sometimes Bollywood directors take unnecessary advantage of their situation as a filmmaker.

"I will not compromise anything just for the sake of commercial pressure. I will be as genuine as possible," he added.

Bollywood recently saw controversies related to period drama films that included Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone starrer PADMAAVAT and then Kangana Ranaut's MANIKARNIKA.

Currently, Shoojit is promoting his movie OCTOBER that has stars Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu in the lead.

Talking about OCTOBER, Shoojit said, "It is a very simple film. After the trailer we've been getting responses like it is intriguing, thriller or suspense film, there is nothing like that, it is a very simple story. Not a love story, but it is a story about love."

OCTOBER is written by Juhi Chaturvedi and produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar under Rising Sun Films banner and scheduled to release on April 13.

Actor Ali Fazal, who is busy working on Tigmanshu Dhulia's MILAN TALKIES, set in Allahabad, wonders why he has had an urban image in people's mind.

The Lucknow-born actor, who was in news last year for his international film VICTORIA & ABDUL, was in his hometown to shoot parts of MILAN TALKIES.

During an on-set interaction, the FUKREY actor spoke about how he landed a role in Dhulia's film.

"The experience has been nice. I've always looked up to Tigmanshu sir's work. I went to his office very casually once… I've never gone to someone's office like that. I guess it was just fate… I got a call from him three years later, asking, 'What are you doing?' And I came (on board).

"I'm very excited to get on to this journey. It's something different. I have not been a part of such projects before. I've had a very different image… Urban, subtle… I don't know why… I don't know, that was wrong," Ali said.

MILAN TALKIES is a small town love story. The movie revolves around the sorry predicament of single-screen theatres in the days of the multiplex, and as the narrative is based in the north of India, it requires a typical accent.

Dhulia says Ali was an easy choice for the lead role.

"I have kept a track on the kind of work Ali is doing. He is also one actor who has one foot in the west, which is good cinema. His training is good and he comes a good background as an actor.

"Also, I wanted the lead actor to have that attitude and 'lehza' that people of Allahabad, Lucknow and Awadh region have. If I would have cast an actor who is not from here, the actor would have put it on and it wouldn't have looked natural. Since Ali is from Lucknow, banaa banaaya mil gaya (I got such a talent readymade)," Dhulia quipped.

The film, which will mark southern actress Shraddha Srinath's debut in Bollywood, is produced by P.S. Chhatwal of Filmy Keeda Productions and Prakash Bhatt of Purple Bull.

It features Reecha Sinha, Ashutosh Rana, Sanjay Mishra, Yashpal Sharma, Sikander Kher and Deep Raj Rana.

It was way back in year 1993, when a film by the name of LOOTERE, hit the marquee, featuring the then action super star Sunny Deol and top heroine Juhi Chawla as well as the master actor Naseeruddin Shah. A very potent mixture indeed. The obvious result- Yes, you guessed it right! The action musical thriller was not only was a hit at the turnstile but celebrated a silver jubilee as well. It was written and directed by a talented, dynamic, very young, good looking and at that point of time inexperienced, Dharmesh Darshan! He later on followed it up with super hit films like RAJA HINDUSTANI, DHADKAN whereby giving romantic heartthrob Aamir Khan and macho action star, Akshay Kumar a role quite contrary to their stereotype image.

Dharmesh Darshan, son of noted producer-director and distributor of such iconic films like YEH RAAT PHIR NA AAYEGI, USTAAD, KAHIN DIN KAHIN RAAT etc, Darshan Sabharwal. In fact Dharmesh uses his father’s name as his surname. Darshan Sabhrwal was a highly respected figure in the film fraternity, and his production house, Shree Krishna Films, a renowned name during the 60’s. However after that the family production house faded into oblivion. It was after a gap of almost 25 years, and co-incidentally a 25 year old (young to precise), Dharmesh then made it into a viable one (Shree Krishna Productions) with the release of LOOTERE, a film which not only made Dharmesh a director to reckon with, but also changed the face of modern cinema. The versatile director not only wrote and directed LOOTERE but also composed and penned lyrics for the superhit , ‘Main Teri Rani Tu Raja Mera’, a song still fresh in the minds of music lovers. No wonder, the man of the moment was the cynosure of all eyes.

Its 25 years since the release of LOOTERE, and it is but natural that the extremely humble, soft spoken and highly cultured director Dharmesh wants to celebrate it with not only his fans and the entire film industry but also with Hindi cinema lovers across the globe.

When we caught up with the erudite, soft spoken and selective man at the helm-of-affairs, Dharmesh Darshan, he told us, “ I sincerely wish to thank each and every one of the millions of viewers of my history making films and their much loved music, for giving them such cult status in popular cinema over a period of 25yrs! What makes me immensely proud is not just the unbelievable success of the films but the tremendous validation of the immense input, hard work and sacrifices a creative artist has to make in the cut throat competitive world of Bollywood or Show business .”

The 71st Festival de Cannes will open with EVERYBODY KNOWS, a Spanish drama, by the two times Oscar winner and Iranian master Asghar Farhadi starring the power couple of Spanish Cinema, the ever charming Penelope Cruz and the great actor Javier Bardem. Both Cruz and Bardem are Oscar winners.

The film narrates the story of Laura and her husband who live in Buenos Aires with their children. “When they return together to her native village in Spain for a family celebration, an unexpected event changes the course of their lives. The family, its ties and the moral choices imposed on them lie, as in every one of Farhadi’s scripts, at the heart of the plot”.

Asghar’s close observation of the Iranian society, the many moods and emotions of the real people always led to his incisive style of script writing in which he layers the emotions and acts of his characters with the circumstances and pressures imposed on them by the surroundings in myriad ways. In all his films, he approached all his characters with tremendous compassion and kindness.

Let us look at THE SEPARATION in which a husband and wife going through the process of divorce and their daughter at an impressionable age woven through the conflict created by a care giver appointed by the husband to take care of his sick father. The care giver and her husband obtain the same space and careful treatment like the wife and husband. Or, THE SALESMAN, in which an actress performing in Arthur Miller’s DEATH OF A SALESMAN with her husband in the main role is violated in her new residence. The husband is furious and works tirelessly to catch the culprit. The wife would like the incidence to rest and move ahead in life. And what a turn the story takes when the perpetrator is trapped by the husband! The master script writer weaves all the emotions and acts of all his characters in a beautifully balanced Zen like approach, observes in depth into their soul with great empathy, even for the ‘culprit’ bringing his family out to play its part at the right time.

Asghar knows all the nuances and intricacies of Iranian life and the settings. He thoroughly enjoyed exploring all the nooks and corners of a milieu of which he is a part. Was he able to evoke the same emotions in THE PAST, the film he set in France with two of the best actors, Berenice Bejo and Tahar Rahim?

Now in Spain with some of the best talents, we are waiting for the 8th of May and the Grand Theatre Lumiere to watch Asghar Farhadi weaving his magic once again.

Salman khan who has been imprisioned from last two days for the 1998 poaching case.

Salman khan was convicted for black buck poarching case, and was sentenced for 5 years imprisionment.

He was supposed to get bail on Friday however, that didn’t happen and then on Saturday salman’s Lawyer pleaded again and judge decided that the order will be passed after lunch.

And good news is salman has got bail, with the bail bond of 50,000.

There are certain things that he has to follow under which he has been granted bail.

He will have to appear for the hearing as well as cannot leave india unless he seeks permission from then court.

Salman will be released post 5, as there are certain legal formalities to be done.

Post the release salman will head to mumbai from Jodhpur. Salman’s Sister alvira and Arpita are in Jodhpur and they are in joy after hearing the news..

There are thousands of fans waiting outside Jodhpur jail as well as outside salman’s house galaxy.

The security has been beefed up outside salman’s house.

Salim, Helen and many more celebs are present at salman’s Residence.

Within few minutes judge’s order copy will reach trail court after which the jail authorities will read the copy and salman Khan accused Number 106, will be sent out.

Chartered plane will be reaching Jodhpur soon.

Salman will have to be present in court on 7th of May for next hearing.
