Atmospheric horror PARI starring Anushka Sharma is already a success story. Find out how.

Produced by Anushka and Karnesh Sharma’s production banner, Clean Slate Films in association with KriArj Entertainment, PARI, is well on its way to turning profitable as the film comes to release this Friday.

Made at a budget of 10 crores with an additional P&A (print and advertising) of 8 crores, the total cost of PARI is 18 crores. So far, the film has already earned 10 crores from the sale of its satellite, music, digital & others ancillary rights.

With just 8 crores to recover from the box office, PARI is safe even before its release and looking at the buzz created with its promotions – the teasers and trailers, it seems the project will sail through and with the added benefit of releasing on a holiday weekend – Holi, PARI is set to write its success story.

After TOILET : EK PREM KATHA and PAD MAN KriArj Entertainment has taken a shift from issue based social dramas to horror in PARI. Says Prernaa Arora, “We’ve enjoyed working with the team at Clean Slate Films on PARI, for they maintain a balanced approach towards spends and production. Both Anushka and Karnesh are a delight to work with. KriArj will continue to make such films that hold potential to engage audiences.”

Adds Karnesh Sharma, “At Clean Slate, we emphasize on telling an engaging story within realistic costs without compromising with the audience experience in any way. So far, all our films have been profitable. We believe in cost control that benefits everyone involved in our projects."

The recovery of the COP (Cost of Production) for the film reflects smart thinking on the part of these new age film producers who believe in making good films for audiences in reasonable budgets.

Directed by Prosit Roy, PARI : NOT A FAIRYTALE is an Indian atmospheric starring Anushka Sharma in lead along with Parambrata Chatterjee, Ritabhari Chakraborty, Rajat Kapoor and Mansi Multani. The movie is slated to release on 2 March 2018.

Sudhir Mishra: Making independent films is a lonely job

0

Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra, a jury member for an upcoming movie awards, says he finds the younger talent inspiring as the Mumbai movie industry can be lonely for a person dabbling in independent films.

Mishra is on the jury of News18.com's reel; movie awards with Farah Khan, Sujoy Ghosh, Sudhir Mishra and Nikkhil Advani. The awards, which will celebrate and honour the artistes who have enthralled the audiences with their outstanding creativity through excellent storytelling, will be held here on March 20.

"I wanted to be a part of this jury because the younger lot inspires me, I feel less lonely, otherwise the idea of making independent films is a lonely job if you look at the Mumbai film industry," Mishra said in a statement.

"I've been around 30 years, trying to do what I want and it's great that now the other are also joining in as well. Age is a superfluous factor in a director's life and there's always so much to learn and get inspired from all the time," added the filmmaker, who is awaiting the release of DAAS DEV.

The Reel Movie Awards will also have a curated panel discussion on future of content consumption and new age cinema, which will witness participation of dignitaries from popular OTT platforms. There will also be a performance by celebrated stand-up comedians.

Actor Tony Cavalero, who starred in the TV series 'School of Rock', has been roped in to play rocker Ozzy Osbourne in the Motley Crue biopic, THE DIRT.

Jeff Tremaine is directing the project based on the 2001 autobiography "The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band" by band members Tommy Lee, Vince Neil, Mick Mars, and Nikki Sixx, along with author Neil Strauss, reports varitey.com.

Rich Wilkes, Tom Kapinos and Amanda Adelson adapted the script.

Osbourne broke out in the 1970s as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Black Sabbath, which fired him in 1979. He then became an even bigger star in the 1980s when Motley Crue emerged.

Rani Mukerji on Sridevi’s demise: 3 months back I lost my father and now I have lost my maa

0

Iconic actress Sridevi’s untimely demise has taken the entire nation by rude surprise. Yesterday the Kapoors, Ayyapans and the Marwah family paid their last respect to the legendary actress and everyone right from Sridevi’s colleagues, friends to juniors were heartbroken at the sight of her lifeless body.

Actress Rani Mukerji too couldn’t stop from expressing her emotions on her idol’s demise. A heartbroken Rani shared, “For me Sri ji has been my favorite from childhood, she actually knew me as a kid because I used to go in my school uniform and see her shooting as she has worked in my uncle Shomu Mukerji’s film. I remember going with my school bag to watch her shoot and she remembers me as that kid.”

Talking about she got acquainted to her she said, “I have connected with her in a very different way. When I grew up to be an actor she used to immensely love my work. There was a lot of love that I received from her; in fact she used to call me laddoo.”

Rani was shattered when she came to know about her demise, “The time I got to know about her demise was the most shocking and tragic thing for me to hear. I feel surreal that we are talking about her in past tense because it was one of those things that nobody expected in fact I was looking forward to showing her HICHKI. She had called me after watching the trailer and said, “Laddoo I have to see this movie” and I said “Yes maa as soon as the movie is ready I will show it to you. It’s a huge loss not only for the whole industry but for us as a family as this whole industry is like a family. If anyone departs we feel that sense of loss and especially more since I had a personal connect with her. And in these last two years that I had my child, Sri ji has been so supportive and so inspirational. The kind of love she has given me and Adira in these last two years has been phenomenal. She was literally like an elder sister or maasi I would say. She has been like a pillar of support for me in this last two years. So it’s a huge loss for me and I will never forget her.”

Rani had recently lost her father and now with Sridevi’s death she looked devastated as she expressed, “For us right now even to fathom the fact that what has happened is very difficult to digest. What I went through my dad’s death three months back that also was very difficult to accept but that is what life is. It wants you to accept some facts even if you don’t want to accept it. I think God tests us in different points of our lives.”

Rani wished she could show HICHKI to her dad and Sridevi ji as they were the two people who loved her immensely and they would have given her genuine feedback.
