Satish Kaushik: Boney Kapoor wept inconsolably after Sridevi’s death

Actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik says after the sudden demise of actress Sridevi, her husband and producer Boney Kapoor couldnt stop crying.

Sridevi passed away following an accidental drowning in a bathtub in her hotel room in Dubai around 11 p.m. on February 24.

"When I heard of ma'am's (Sridevi) death, I couldn't believe it. Boney and I have been friends for 30 years. I called him up. He wept inconsolably. The more we spoke, the more he wept. He just couldn't stop crying. I hung up," said Satish.

Warm, loving, vivacious and a complete actor is how he describes the SADMA star.

"I don't know of anyone who could transform so much once she had make-up on," he said.

"And I don't mean just for the camera. She could dress up for a wedding and she'd look like a different person…And now to see her lying there still and unmoving in that casket…it was heartbreaking," he said after paying his last respects to the star here on Wednesday.

Boney and Satish go back a long way.

"I was serving as an assistant on Shekhar Kapur's JOSHILAAY which Boney produced. This was way back in 1988. I saw Sridevi in HIMMATWALA and I was stunned by her screen presence.

"Javed Akhtar saab recommended her very strongly. She was signed for the female lead of JOSHILAAY along with Anil Kapoor, Sunny Deol and Meenakshi Seshadri. Sridevi played a village belle, a circus owner's daughter and her comic timing was impeccable even back then."

After that, he again got a chance to work with her when she did MR.INDIA.

When she chose a role she embraced it wholeheartedly.

"In her later years, she chose the real-life role of a mother to Janhvi and Khushi. That was her favourite role and the one that she played oblivious to the fact that there was no camera," said Satish.

"I've seen what a good mother she was to the two girls. And now to see Janhvi and Khushi looking so lost without her…"

In terms of sheer numbers, Sridevi's funeral is estimated to have attracted the highest number of mourners, ranking at par with the previous biggest funeral processions of the legendary singer Mohammed Rafi (July 1980: around a million mourners), and India's first superstar Rajesh Khanna (July 2012: a little less than a million mourners).

"I've never seen so many people at anyone's condolence meet or funeral. There was not a dry eye to be seen. Her going away has affected everyone, even those who had never met her. The nation is in grief," said Satish.

PARI is not like usual Indian horror films

0

Anushka Sharma-starrer PARI is not like the usual horror films in India, says the film's co-producer Prernaa Arora.

"PARI is not like the usual horror films in India with creaking doors, ear-shattering background score and crashing chandeliers. This is a totally different take on the spooky theme. The horror is so organically introduced into everyday life that audiences will be stunned," Arora said.

She said audiences will get to see Anushka like never before.

"She has played a funny ghost before (in PHILLAURI). In PARI, she is something else. I don't think any actress in the world has played this kind of a chilling character," said Arora.

And if after being frightened, you care for a fun-filled rom-com about a festive period in the lives of Delhi's frantic characters, there is director Ashu Trikha's VEEREY KI WEDDING.

"All my films have had a complex plot to narrate. In here, simplicity of the plot had to be maintained. I believe simplicity is the most complex thing to achieve. So yes, the simplicity of the plot and its songs were my main concern. It is a very very simple film," said Trikha.

Isn't there a surfeit of small-town romances?

The director clarifies: "This is not a small-town film. It is a Delhi wedding. And the families are really rich. There is style and pomp. Big houses, luxury cars. They are the typically rich Delhi families."

"The basic bone of contention is that the hero gets into a physical scuffle. And the girl's father doesn't like the idea of getting a son-in-law who can get into a brawl by even the roadside, which I think is very practical.

"Even we wouldn't want our sons going out fighting on the streets. But he does it for a reason. And it is often for the good of another! Well, it's a quirk he has."

Why Kim Kardashian will never try vampire facial again

0

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian said to her fans the one treatment she wishes she'd never had is the vampire facial.

The 37-year-old shared how she massively regrets injecting her face with her own blood as part of vampire facial, reports mirror.co.uk.

Speaking on her application, Kim described the infamous procedure as the most painful thing ever.

"Before I got the procedure, I just found out that I was pregnant, so I couldn't use numbing cream or a pain killer and both are suggested," she said.

The beauty technique involves drawing blood from your arm before a sample is spun in a machine to remove platelets.

Kim was heard wailing in pain as she underwent the procedure on her reality show, while her best friend Jonathan Cheban watched on.

"It was really rough and painful for me. I couldn't tell anyone about the pregnancy either, but I pulled Jonathan aside and told him. My show was also filming the treatment, so I felt I couldn't chicken out. It was honestly the most painful thing ever!" she said.

Kim then said that her elder sister Kourtney was a "huge fan" however and had undergone the controversial treatment herself after Kim.
