0

Sony Entertainment Television’s ‘Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai’ viewers will soon get to reminisce about the grand and elaborate weddings from the 90s era as the show will soon be telecasting the wedding of Naina’s (Ashi Singh) sister. As per the traditional weddings, Naina’s family members will eagerly join in to lend a helping hand to get multiple arrangements in place for welcoming guests.

While shooting for this track, Randeep Rai who plays the role of Sameer had a narrow escape. For one scene the boys along with Randeep had to set up the mandap for the wedding wherein while lifting a pole, it slipped from his hands hurting him in the process.

When contacted Randeep confirmed, “Everyone on the sets is super charged with enthusiasm as we are shooting for a shaadi sequence. We are humming tracks from the 90s and dancing to musical hits which were always played during weddings. While shooting for a segment which required me to act like Salman Khan from his earlier movies and lift a heavy bamboo pole. While lifting the pole, I lost my grip and the rough surface bruised my palm. Luckily, I quickly shifted my feet or it could have been a major mishap. The production crew quickly administered first aid and we resumed the shoot shortly.”

Aditi confirms collaborating with Mani Ratnam again

0

Actress Aditi Rao Hydari, who is basking in the appreciation coming her way for her brief but brilliant performance in PADMAAVAT, has confirmed that she is set to reunite with filmmaker Mani Ratnam for another Tamil film.

Aditi last collaborated with Ratnam in KAATRU VELIYIDAI last year.

Confirming this development, Aditi said she couldn't have hoped for a better start to 2018.

"The positive reviews for PADMAAVAT were totally unexpected since I thought I didn't have much to do. Now I am again doing a film with Mani Ratnam, just a year after KAATRU VELIYIDAI."

Doing two successive projects of Mani Ratnam, does it mean she is his new muse?

"I'd love to be," she laughed, and added: "Which actress wouldn't want to work with Mani sir, and that too twice within one year? I learnt so much while doing KAATRU VELIYIDAI. I am sure this time again I will come away with something very valuable."

Aditi is unwilling to share any more details of the project, except to say it would take her to a new area of emotions.

"It won't be anything like KAATRU VELIYIDAI. Also, this time I hope to speak my own Tamil lines on-screen. For KAATRU VELIYIDAI, I had diligently learnt the language and practiced the nuances. But finally my voice was dubbed by someone who did a wonderful job.

"This time, I will try to do my own lines. But of course I'll go with whatever Mani sir decides."

Karan Grover: ‘Spotlight 2’ gave me chance to change on-screen image

0

Actor Karan V Grover who is playing a rock star in the new web series titled SPOTLIGHT 2, written and produced by Vikram Bhatt, says this show has given a chance to change his image of a "good boy".

The story of the show revolves around the singer, Vicky, who goes through very emotional highs and lows in his journey as a musician.

Asked about what made him choose the show, Karan told IANS here that "this web series given me a chance to change my image as an actor. So far I have never played a guy who has so much emotional ups and downs through the whole show.

"He is a musician who reaches the pinnacle of success and then falls down to a level from where he becomes life threat for himself, under the influence of drugs."

According to him, there are some moments where Karan felt quite scared to depict the destructive nature of his character.

"Since there are no similarities the character has with me as an individual, there are some points of the shooting I felt really scared of him. I mean Vicky does drugs, smoke cigarettes, takes his achievements, people and his loved ones for granted and has every bad habit. So, yes, I had no hangover of Vicky but thinking about the existence of such a character scared me.

"I do not smoke; neither do I encourage smoking to anyone. But, during the scenes I smoked and later I started worrying about if I am getting addicted to it," he added.

Since he is playing a character that has many grey shades and does much wrong, Karan, asked how he convinced himself to play it, said: "Well, I take all my opinion and throw them out of the window when I am playing a character. My individual opinion does not come in between; on set, I am following the vision of the director."

Starting his career with TV show "Saarrthi", he appeared in several daily soaps like "Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki", "Punar Vivah – Ek Nayi Umeed" among many others. in fact, he bagged Kalakar Awards in Best Actor category for "Punar Vivah".

Though he acted in only one film WEDDING PULLAV in 2015, Karan, asked about if he wants to explore Bollywood more, said: "I have worked in television for 10 years. So for me, TV and web are my primary interest and getting a film is a matter of opportunity. If it comes my way, I will explore. Meanwhile, I will be doing TV and digital shows. I am happy with it."

Produced and written by Bhatt and directed by Suhail Tatari, SPOTLIGHT 2 featuring him and Aditi Arya is streaming on digital platform Viu.

Sudhir Mishra’s DAAS DEV finally has a release date!

0

Sudhir Mishra’s upcoming film DAAS DEV starring Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha and Rahul Bhat will finally hit the silver screens on March 9. The film follows a path contrary to the plot of the classic novel Devdas.

DAAS DEV is a fiercely political film that talks about the protagonist’s addiction. The movie’s premise is novel in a way that it is a reverse story of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s Devdas dipped in Shakespearean influences. If Devdas was a journey from a noble person to a 'Das', this is a journey from 'Das', a person who is a slave to his addictions and to the dynastic ambitions of his family to ‘Dev’. Set against the backdrop of Uttar Pradesh, DAAS DEV is a film about power, love and addiction.

The film stars Richa Chadha as Paro, Aditi Rao Hydari as Chandni and Rahul Bhat as Dev. The film also features power packed performances from Vineet Singh, Saurabh Shukla and Vipin Sharma. Interestingly filmmaker Anurag Kashyap will be seen in a guest appearance in the film.

Sudhir Mishra, known for his critically-acclaimed movies like HAZAARON KHWAISHEIN AISI, YEH SAALI ZINDAGI and CHAMELI said, “We started with one of my friend telling me why you don’t do Dev Das? I started working on it with a fellow writer and suddenly things started changing. I started feeling that Hamlet and Devdas were similar stories and then the Indian political situations came up and it became like a reverse journey of Devdas. I took the three characters of Devdas; Dev, Paro, and Chandramukhi. As I was working, Shakespeare intruded and I allowed him to. Ultimately it became a film about power as it gets in the way of love. I am glad that finally my film has a release date and all the hard work that my team has put in will be paid off”.

Talking about her character Aditi Rao Hydari said, “My character Chandni redefines the iconic character Chandramukhi as an empowered woman of this generation, a woman who is not confined by rules. Her inherent goodness, strength and ability to do what needs to be done, when it needs to be done will reach out to women across India. Women who want to live their lives on their terms without being judged, who are unapologetic of who they are, who they strive to be and what they want from life. Women who are the masters of their destiny and who embrace the conflicts within them and celebrate themselves. With Sudhir Mishra helming this unique and powerful film, DAASDEV has been a very challenging experience for me. Working alongside incredibly talented actors is always inspiring. I have found each moment of this journey enriching and have hopefully learnt and imbibed a lot as an actor!”

“DAASDEV is the journey of Dev who fights all addictions including his addiction to power which is the most dangerous addiction to complete an arch and finally transform him from being a Das to becoming a Dev,” shared Rahul Bhat.

Presenter, Gaurav Sharma (Storm Pictures) added, “It gives us at Storm Pictures great pleasure to have joined hands with Sudhir Mishra and Saptarishi Cinevision Productions to conclude the journey of DAASDEV and to bring it to theatres. To us, DAASDEV is a relevant film in today’s day and age which makes a resounding statement and entertains in the same breath and we are sure that on the 9th of March,2018 the movie watching audiences of this country will feel the same way about
the film as we did when we first watched it”.

“When I heard the story from Sudhir Ji, I could instantly connect to his vision of the iconic characters – Devdaas, Paro and Chandramukhi set in the contemporary period. Being a student of literature, if I had to visualize these characters in 2018, I would also perhaps have thought on similar lines. And we all know the kind of cinema Sudhir ji is known for. So I feel we have a solid product in our hand and I would love to begin my journey in the industry by endorsing such a powerful and thought provoking subject. Coincidentally the political background of the film also resonated with the way I understandpolitics,"said producer, Sanjeev Kumar (Saptarishi Cinevision Production).

Directed by Sudhir Mishra, the film is presented by Storm Pictures and produced by Saptarishi Cinevision Production.
