Oh no! Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 won’t be releasing even in April

0

Off late every filmmaker in B-town is trying their best to have a clear window at Box-office for a smooth release of their film. Early this year we saw how the uncertainty regarding Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus PADMAAVAT’s release led to reshuffling of release date of several other films as nobody wants to clash their film with others’.

Now release of another highly anticipated film 2.0 starring Megastar Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar has been postponed yet again. Earlier the film was supposed to hit the silver screens in Diwali last year but later it got shifted to 26 January and then to April 2018, however now reports are doing the rounds that the film won’t be releasing in April as well!

Talking about reason behind the film being postponed again a source close to the film was quoted saying in Firstpost as, “The VFX work is taking longer than expected because it has been distributed to many studios across the globe. The film has around 11000 VFX shots and each shot is being worked upon with lot of care. Shankar sir doesn’t want to compromise on the output, therefore, he doesn’t mind if the film doesn’t get completed on time for April release. The team is eyeing Independence Day weekend release. August 15 falls on a Wednesday, so the team wants to cash in on that weekend. The final date is still being worked out.”

Directed by S Shankar, 2.0 is sequel of ROBOT (2010) starring Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Also the film is first Indian film to be directly shot in 3D. While Rajinikanth will reprise his role in the sequel, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson are the new addition to in the star cast of this second installment.

We wonder when the makers of the film are going to make any official announcement regarding the final release date of this film.

Shekhar Suman glad with changing face of plays

Actor Shekhar Suman, who marks his return to stage with WAH NAWAB WAH!, is happy with the increasing scale of plays and musicals in India.

Shekhar is reuniting with 'Dekh Bhai Dekh' team Anand Mahendroo and writer Sharad Joshi for WAH NAWAB WAH!, a political satire highlighting the lengths to which leaders go to retain power.

"I feel like I am getting to do the kind of work I have always wanted to do. Even if there was a hiatus in between, I was still working, but it is a greater pleasure when you get to do the kind of work that you always want to do," Shekhar said in a statement.

His last stage act was EK MULAQAAT.

"Whenever I watched Broadway in New York, I always wondered why we couldn't do plays on such a big scale. I am happy that at least this trend has started with MUGHAL-E-AZAM, and has been very well received," Shekhar added.

MUGHAL-E-AZAM has returned for a second season in Delhi.

R. Madhavan: An actor is defined by his life experiences

0

From the crazy fun loving college boy Maddy in REHNA HAI TERE DIL MEIN to rubbing shoulders with the iconic Kamal Hassan in "Anbe Sivam", from the business journalist Shyam Saxena in GURU to Manu of the TANU WEDS MANU series — R. Madhavan has done it all and more. With his new web series 'Breathe', he says he is growing with each film and each experience of life.

In a 20-year career, Madhavan has done very selective work, whether in the south Indian film industry or in Hindi cinema. What made him be so choosy about selecting projects?

"An actor is defined by his life experiences and how convincingly he is portraying his characters on-screen and getting acceptance for his performance. When it comes to the acceptance of my performance from the audience, even though the films did not do well at the box office for a film like 'Ramji Londonwala', my effort has always been appreciated.

"That made me confident about my choices. I understood the fact that slowly but steadily, I am growing," Madhavan told IANS here.

"I have been working on my skills and that will continue. See, the world's biggest superstars earn the status of a superstar in their late 40s and 50s. If you ask me about me being choosy, I would say I am not. I just do not want to feel burnt out by the time I reach 50," said the actor, 47.

"See, I cannot dance, I do not have a well-built body, neither do I have an adorable look that a superstar has. But yes, I am earning respect with my substantial work."

The actor who calls himself less than a superstar like Shah Rukh Khan yet considers himself moderately famous, has worked with some of the noted names like Mani Ratnam, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Nishikant Kamat, Rajkumar Hirani, Aanand L Rai, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Hassan and Naseeruddin Shah among others.

According to Madhavan, working with these creative geniuses made him understand the craft much better.

"More than directors, I have learnt a lot from the iconic actors that I have worked with. Since I come from a non-film background, I have no formal training in acting. Everything — from camera angle to how much one should express on face, is based on the length of the shot… Everything (like this) I have learnt from these legends. I learnt on the job and from my life experience."

Asked about the best lesson he learnt, he said: "That you have to bring some amount of realness to the character you play. It has to look like a real world, if not completely real world, it has to be a homogeneous world where every action would look real. If you watch a LION KING you believe in that world. When we watch SPIDERMAN, we feel the real emotion of the character."

So, now that the Amazon Prime web series 'Breathe' is streaming and film offers are coming his way as usual, does he want to explore Bollywood more or focus on his career in the south?

"I can explore both the cinema worlds. Why do I need to choose one? These days, whether in Tamil or Hindi cinema, both are growing with immense experimentation. So, I see no reason for choosing one over another," Madhavan said.
