Actor Allu Arjun has been remanded to 14 days in custody following his arrest in connection with the tragic death of a woman, Revathi, during a stampede at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad on December 4. The incident occurred during a promotional event for his blockbuster Pushpa 2: The Rule.

Background of the Incident
The stampede ensued when a massive crowd gathered outside the theatre to catch a glimpse of the actor, resulting in the death of Revathi, a 35-year-old woman, and serious injuries to her eight-year-old son. Police filed cases against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under Sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Three individuals the co-owner of the theatre, the senior manager, and the lower balcony in-charge have also been arrested as part of the investigation.

Court Developments
Ahead of his arrest, Arjun petitioned the Telangana High Court to quash the case against him. However, Justice Sridevi deferred hearing the lunch motion filed by his legal team until 4 pm on December 13, rejecting the plea to expedite proceedings during an atypical time slot. This decision came after objections raised by the Public Prosecutor, who emphasized maintaining fairness in court procedures. Senior counsel S. Niranjan Reddy, representing Arjun, assured the court of presenting valid reasons for hearing the motion.

Victim’s Husband’s Statement
In a surprising turn, Revathi’s husband, Bhaskar, has stated he is willing to withdraw the case, claiming that Arjun had no role in the stampede. Bhaskar said, “I was not aware of the arrest, and Allu Arjun has nothing to do with the stampede in which my wife passed away.” Despite his statement, the case remains under investigation.

Police Investigation
The Hyderabad Police are focusing on the role of the theatre management and security personnel in failing to manage the crowd, which led to the chaos. Arjun’s arrest has sparked discussions on celebrity responsibility and the precautions needed during public events involving high-profile figures. The actor’s legal team continues to fight for relief in court, while fans and the public await further updates on the case.
