Ever since actor turned politician Vijay became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, people across social media have been comparing his political journey with that of Pawan Kalyan, who is currently serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, created a major political upset by defeating long established parties in its very first election contest.
Speaking at a recent public event, Pawan Kalyan praised Vijay and admitted that he felt slightly jealous seeing how smoothly TVK managed its campaign and victory. Speaking humorously, he said Tamil Nadu politics looked very carefree compared to his own difficult political journey. He joked that Vijay’s party won happily using cutouts and holograms, while he himself spent nearly 15 years struggling on the streets to build his political career.
However, Pawan later turned serious and explained that running a political party is not easy. He said a leader must understand the expectations and emotions of lakhs of people before speaking or making decisions. According to him, politics requires patience, experience, and deep understanding of society, which is why his own journey took many years.
At the same time, veteran Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi also congratulated Vijay on becoming the Chief Minister. Chiranjeevi’s team released a statement revealing that the two actors recently had a warm and friendly phone conversation. During the call, Chiranjeevi wished Vijay success in his new role and expressed hope that he would remain close to the hearts of Tamil Nadu’s people through people focused governance. He also compared Vijay’s popularity to legendary actor and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. G. Ramachandran.
The statement further revealed that Vijay had recently watched Chiranjeevi’s latest film Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu and was happy to see him back onscreen. Vijay also thanked Chiranjeevi for supporting him during the piracy controversy surrounding his upcoming film Jana Nayagan. Vijay additionally wished Chiranjeevi success for his next film being produced by KVN Productions.
Vijay launched TVK only two years before the elections, but the party managed to defeat powerful rivals like Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. With this historic victory, Vijay has now joined the list of iconic actor turned political leaders such as N. T. Rama Rao, M. G. Ramachandran, and J. Jayalalithaa.
