The actress shared the heartbreaking news with her fans on Instagram Stories, posting a ‘heartbroken’ emoji and writing, “Until we meet again.” The cause of his death has not been revealed, and Joseph rarely appeared on Samantha’s social media.
Following the news, actor Teja Sajja expressed his condolences on Twitter, offering support to Samantha and her family. He wrote, “May you find peace in the memories you shared with your Father. My deepest sympathies to you and your family members dear @Samanthaprabhu2 garu.”
In a recent interview with HT, Samantha had opened up about her complicated relationship with her father. She shared that she had always sought his validation, explaining how he once told her she wasn’t “that smart” and that she only performed well academically due to the standard of Indian education. Samantha reflected on how such words impacted her self-esteem for a long time, leaving her to feel “not good enough.”
In 2022, Joseph Prabhu had posted throwback pictures from Samantha and Naga Chaitanya’s wedding, a year after the couple had parted ways. The post, which included images from their wedding with Samantha in a white gown and Chaitanya in a tuxedo, was accompanied by a reflective caption: “Long long ago, there was a story. And it doesn’t exist anymore! So, let’s start a new story. And a new chapter!”
Samantha’s father also took time to thank his followers for their supportive messages, sharing that it took him a long time to process his emotions and that “life is too short to sit down with feelings and get bogged down.”
