On July 23, to celebrate Suriya’s 49th birthday, filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj released a special promo video from their upcoming film, tentatively titled “Suriya 44.” The video showcased Suriya as a gangster known as ‘The One,’ surrounded by his followers. The action-packed promo, which lasts one minute and 37 seconds, featured intense scenes with Suriya brandishing a gun, smoking, and having blood on his face.
Karthik Subbaraj tweeted the video with the message, “Happy Birthday @Suriya_offl sir. From Team Suriya 44,” and used the hashtags #HappyBirthdaySuriya and #HBDTheOneSuriya. Fans expressed their excitement on social media, predicting a blockbuster and sharing their admiration for Suriya’s performance.
2D Entertainment, the film’s production company, also tweeted the promo, highlighting Suriya’s dominant presence and inviting fans to join the excitement for the film, which promises elements of love, laughter, and war.
Previously, the makers had released a video in June announcing the start of filming and revealing Suriya’s retro look. The film stars Pooja Hegde opposite Suriya, with Jayaram, Karunakaran, and Joju George in significant roles. Pooja Hegde had wrapped up the first filming schedule in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands earlier in July.
