Vijay Congratulates Suriya After Karuppu’s Strong Box Office Success

Suriya and Trisha’s Karuppu crossed Rs. 80 crore in India within 4 days as the film also received wishes from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay.

Suriya and Trisha Krishnan’s fantasy action drama Karuppu is continuing its successful run at the box office after releasing in theatres recently. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film also features Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maaya Ravi and Supreeth Reddy in important roles.

As the movie continued to perform strongly in theatres, the team behind Karuppu received special wishes from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay. The makers shared the update on X, formerly known as Twitter, and expressed happiness after producer S. R. Prabhu was congratulated for the film’s success.

The post shared by the makers read, “We are overjoyed to share that our Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. Joseph Vijay, has extended his heartfelt wishes and congratulations to our producer @prabhu_sr for the grand success of THE ONE @Suriya_offl‘s #Karuppu. It is truly wonderful and heartwarming for our entire team to receive his wishes.”

The recognition reportedly came during a meeting between Chief Minister Vijay and members of the Tamil Film Active Producers Association. Producer S. R. Prabhu attended the meeting along with several office bearers of the association, including president TG Thyagarajan, general secretary T Siva, treasurer G Dhananjayan, vice presidents SR Prabhu and SS Lalit Kumar, and joint secretaries Mukesh R Mehta and S Vinoth Kumar.

During the meeting, the association also contributed ₹10 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund through a bank draft. Vijay reportedly congratulated S. R. Prabhu personally and wished the team success for the film’s theatrical run.

At the same time, the makers of Karuppu recently issued a clarification after controversy over a dialogue in the film allegedly linked to veteran composer Ilaiyaraaja. Some viewers felt that a satirical scene in the second half indirectly referred to the composer’s copyright related issues and considered it disrespectful.

In response, Dream Warrior Pictures released a statement expressing regret over the matter. A part of the statement said, “Dream Warrior Pictures wishes to express its sincere respect and admiration for Maestro Mr. Ilaiyaraaja and his extraordinary contribution to Indian cinema and music, which has inspired generations and continues to hold a special place in the hearts of audiences across the world.”

Meanwhile, Karuppu has now crossed ₹80 crore in India within 4 days of release. According to Sacnilk, the film earned ₹14.30 crore net on Monday, taking its total domestic collection to ₹82.30 crore.
