Following the lukewarm reception of Kanguva, actor Suriya has quickly turned his attention toward his next film, tentatively titled Suriya 45, with RJ Balaji in the director’s chair. Rumored to be a fantasy drama, the project is generating considerable interest, particularly with reports suggesting an A-list cast.

Trisha Krishnan and Suriya’s Love Story
Arguably the biggest highlight of Suriya 45 is that Trisha Krishnan has reportedly signed on to join the cast for what will become her reunion with Suriya in two decades. The last time they shared the big screen was in Mounam Pesiyadhe (2002), with the two actors recently appearing together on the film set, and pictures of them rapidly going viral. Fans are excited to see them rekindle their chemistry on-screen.

Possible Vijay Sethupathi as Villain?
To add to the energy of the project, reports are now circulating indicating that Vijay Sethupathi might play a villain. The star is known for his power-packed performances- whether sporting a good or bad role or sharing the screen with fellow stars in movies like Master or Vikram-by going toe to toe with Suriya, allowing us to expect an exciting standoff. And there’s been no official confirmation from the makers regarding his casting, so fans are now almost impatiently looking to see the announcement come.

Story and Inspirations
According to reports, Suriya 45 takes its cue from the script of Maasaani Amman, which had been purportedly written for Trisha as Commerce. The project is also being compared to RJ Balaji’s earlier directorial venture, Mookuthi Amman, which had Nayanthara in the lead. Given the knack RJ Balaji has for merging elements of comedy and fantasy, Suriya 45 would most likely be exploring a similar territory-a fresh narrative with an exciting ensemble.

Behind-the-Scenes Changes
One of the more surprising developments with the project sees AR Rahman replaced as the film’s music director with Sai Abhyankkar. While the exact reason is still unknown, it is being speculated that this may be out of Rahman’s recent announcement of taking a career pause. The new composer is said to have brought very new vigor onto the stage, which might create a fresh and unexplored feel in this venture without the shade of comparison to one’s earlier works.
