Actor Yash recently spoke about his upcoming film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups during an interview with Variety. The actor shared details about why he chose filmmaker Geethu Mohandas to direct the project and also explained the vision behind the movie.
According to Yash, Toxic is set during Goa’s Portuguese period between 1947 and 1961. The story focuses on emotions, relationships and power struggles during that time. In the film, Yash plays the character Raya. The cast also includes Nayanthara, Kiara Advani and Huma Qureshi in important roles.
Talking about the film, Yash said he was interested in Geethu Mohandas’ style of storytelling and her approach towards characters and emotions. He also appreciated the way the movie presents its women characters. The actor mentioned that Toxic has a strong female perspective and features women with powerful and bold personalities.
The film has been shot in Kannada and English at the same time. Yash revealed that the production involved technicians and professionals from Hollywood as well. The makers are aiming to give the movie an international presentation and release strategy.

Toxic was earlier expected to release on June 4, but the release has now been delayed. According to Yash, the team decided to take more time to complete the film properly and prepare it for a wider worldwide release. He explained that the makers wanted to follow a release model similar to large scale international films, where enough time is given for post production, planning and marketing before launch.
The film is now expected to release globally in 2026. Reports suggest that the team is focusing on delivering a polished final product that can connect with audiences in different countries.
Toxic has already generated attention because of its unique setting, star cast and large scale production. The combination of Yash, Geethu Mohandas and actors like Nayanthara, Kiara Advani and Huma Qureshi has added to the curiosity around the project.
The movie also marks one of Yash’s major projects after the success of the KGF franchise. With Toxic, the actor appears to be moving towards a different style of storytelling that mixes action, emotions and historical background elements in a larger cinematic setting.
